You can open it up and use that as cling film, its the same stuff - use that instead of wound dressings, as they tend to be fluffy, and would hurt so so much more!!!

The raised burn itself is only 2cm long, but the red area around it is bigger than a stamp. We don't have any clingfilm at the moment. Got some tin foil though.

Don't put tin foil on your wrist. Chew on it instead.

Still rekon you should just leave it, if the skin is not broken there's no point in putting cling film on it, and it'll make it hurt more

If it hurts that's a good sign. Really serious burns don't because the nerve endings on the skin have been destroyed. Which is why someone whose skin is falling off like unravelling string may well assure you that they aren't badly hurt.

Not that this will make your burn feel any better right now!

Nah she will be ok tonight, all the pissed up scousers are all in Athens so that cuts down 50% of the calls as there wont be many calls from women who have 'banged their heads on the door handles' orcalls from young men falling off ladders whilst climbing through windows after 'being locked out of their houses'

We discovered my daughter was allergic to it when they gave it to her at the hospital, before taking blood!


I burnt my arm quite badly a few years ago...I put it in cold water etc but after about an hour or so started shaking and felt sick, so husband took me to a&e. They dressed it and gave me strong painkillers and I had to go back daily to have it dressed.

As an exams officer in a school, may I suggest you do the same, get a hospital note, give it to your exams officer and ask for Special Consideration - they can write a report to the exam board and they will take it in to account when they mark your paper. Below are some of the categories and the allowance given depending on the reason (The maximum allowance given will be 5% of the total raw marks available)

5% This is the maximum allowance and will be reserved for the most exceptional cases, such as:
terminal illness of the candidate; terminal illness of a parent; recent death of a member of the immediate family; serious and disruptive domestic crises leading to acute anxiety about the family.
4% Very serious problems such as:
incapacitating illness of candidate or member of immediate family;
major surgery at or near the time of the examination; severe
disease; severe car accident; recent death of member of extended family; severe or permanent bodily injury occurring at the time of the examinations; domestic crisis at time of examinations.
3% A more common category. Many more cases will fall into this group, including:
recent traumatic experience such as death of a close friend or
distant relative; recent illness of a more serious nature; flare-up of severe congenital conditions such as epilepsy, diabetes, severe
asthmatic attack; recently broken limbs; organ disease; physical
assault trauma before an examination; recent domestic crisis;
witnessing a distressing event on day of examination.
2% Probably the most common category of allowance. The majority of cases might fall within this category:
minor illness at the time of the assessment, broken limb on the
mend; recent viral illness; concussion, effects of pregnancy (not
pregnancy per se); hay fever on the day of an examination; death of family pet on day of examination; allowance on last paper taken in a day when candidate has exceeded 5 hours 30 minutes at GCSE or 6 hours at AS/A Level.
1% Reserved for more minor problems:
noise during examination which is more than momentary; illness of another candidate in examination room; death of family pet just
before examination; stress or anxiety for which medication has been prescribed; minor ailments; headache; minor upset arising from administration problems, such as wrong time allocated.

DC Rules; I have a type of arthritis in my wrists, fingers etc that makes writing in exams painful and difficult. Does that mean I might be entitled to some kind of special allowance? I have to write slower than the average person too.

Yes you do - go to your disability services. I get 25% extra time as i have fingers missing & associated problems.
