Just about spot on.A physically limited player who did the easy things tidily.
The club won’t cave in because Billy Gilmour has left.

If Billy was very keen on the move, but we ideally wanted to keep him, the club have done exactly the right thing and in keeping with everything PB et al have said about not standing in the way of players when they want to move on. No-one appears to have been ‘forced’ to do anything. We are now in the realms of not getting too attached to our favourite players because the club now been forced to treat them as commodities. A sad consequence of how far we have come.
I suspect most teams feel like that though to be fair, and am not sure seeing Gilmour on the team sheet would have made me feel any easier.Thought JP had a great game but played them on once too often. I digress.
So much change in the middle. Mwepu, retired with Ali Mac, Caciedo and Gross all gone. Letting WBG go at a knock down seems a bit of a risk especially with the crocking from Tuesday.
Appreciate Grandad played well last week but I suspect it will really hit home when the lines up come out today and we see who is matching up Rice, Party and Odegaard.

If it was that much of a steal there would have been some higher offers from elsewhere…….According to the BBC
“Gilmour has moved to Italy from Brighton for an initial £12m, with add-ons worth a potential further £4m.”
A steal in my view. -half what that paid Man U for Mctominy
The club do seem to moving into the realm of being Wholesale Player Brokers. We're pretty good at it, obviously, but seems a very long time ago when you kept the same core team from season to season and maybe augmented it with a couple of key signings every summer. Hope we don't lose sight of the core activity of maintaining a healthy presence in the EPL. Gadzooks! I'm starting to sound like Jacob Rees-MoggWe are now in the realms of not getting too attached to our favourite players because the club now been forced to treat them as commodities. Mcton scores goals which is the difference. Walking red card without the Manure ref protection though.According to the BBC

Up until this transfer window I have kind of felt we’ve had less turnover of players than when we in the lower leagues. We are now in the realms of not getting too attached to our favourite players because the club now been forced to treat them as commodities. A sad consequence of how far we have come.
Perhaps WBG wanted Napoli or he was going to stay and refuse to go elsewhere? Maybe we did get better bids but didn’t disclose because WBG said no. Is that even a possibility? If it was that much of a steal there would have been some higher offers from elsewhere…….
Of course. If it was that much of a steal there would have been some higher offers from elsewhere…….
So what is the fee?

I'm pretty sure the up-front fee is the cost of a seagull tattoo under £12mAccording to the BBC

Of course.
Didn’t we sign him for circa £7-8m, and Chelsea fans were saying similar things to some of our supporters?
If I recall we weren’t in a bidding war then either, there seems to be something about WBG that doesn’t work with/for teams.
Yes, largely agree. It was a statement rather than a questionWhat doesn’t work is what others have pointed out, he doesn’t score goals and isn’t the best defensively (although IMO he improved defensively and strength wise significantly over the last 12months). If you only want to play 2 in the middle of the park you need more dynamic players (O’Riley). He would thrive in a 3 man midfield. For Hürzelers tactics it seems he needs/wants 2 very dynamic players that can contribute more defensively and in the box. I think WBG could have been that player with another year or two and improved shooting, but his size will always play against him slightly
Exactly. And I think it's worth remembering that this is partly why he came to Brighton in the first place. He wanted to play, and he specifically stated he wanted to play under Potter (who then pissed off to Chelsea a week later...). He obviously just wants to play, and if he's been given the vibe that he's down the pecking order - then why would he not want to move on? He partly needs to play regularly to get in the national squad too. It's quite simple. New manager doesn't really fancy the player. Player doesn't like that because player wants to play. Ex-manager wants player and can offer all sorts of goodies. Agreement reached between two clubs.
What's so difficult to get?
Just do it anyway - you know it makes sense. Not getting sold for £50m is one thing, my main concern right now is promising to make a seagull tattoo if he was sold for less than £12m.
How does this work in England @El Presidente, do the clubs need to report the exact fee at one time or another?
"The road formerly known as Billy Gilmour's Road". Or 'X-BGR'. Or maybe just X - that seems to be the way of everything now....Similar angst here.
When picking up Mrs Bozza on her way home from work I'll ask where she wants me to meet her. Often the response would be BGR, short for Billy Gilmour's Road.
What the hell are we going to refer to it as now?
