Leighton Rees, John Lowe, Eric Bristow and Jocky Wilson (RIP)

Good quartet but I would replace Leighton Rees with Bobby George. For sheer impact and personality and helping to popularise the game, when the embryonic BDO World Championship was invitation only.

Dick Fosbury, Bob Beamon, Tommy Smith and John Carlos. Four men who had an impact on their athletics events, which will be discussed as long as athletics is discussed. ( and all for very different reasons )

The AC Milan back 4 of 91 onwards - Paolo Maldini, Franco Baresi, Costacurta and Tassotti were a very good defensive unit and hardly conceded anything...

I'm struggling for football, even though in the back of my head I have the names to go with Best, Cryff, a German, an Italian.

Best, Cruyff, Bekenbauer, Pele

Sorry no room for a libero, with the other 3.

That's why this is so tricky, and why when talking of greatest a la F1 and middle weight boxing, they truly are great.

Playing him in midfield where he outmarked Alan Mullery during the 1970 World Cp quarter final in Leon!

errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Begging the question of the thread.

"The same sport, the same discipline therein, (no 3 batsmen and a bowler), at the same time. "

Alberto Tomba, Marc Giradelli, Ingmar Stenmark, Franz Klammer.

I'd have included the Herminator but unfortunately a different era really.
Tomba & Klammer aren't the same era?
