I went to school with a fella that played top flight football with Oxford Utd and Bradford City. In his words, not mine "Chris Waddle was the best footballer he ever faced"
Waddle is talking out of his arse. Beckham was twice runner up in FIFA's World Player of the Year. Admittedly the award only started in 91, but the only Premier League player with a better record is Christiano Ronaldo, and Thierry Henry has the same record as Beckham.
To make this easier, I think it's uncontroversial that Beckham is not one of the best goalkeepers, defenders, wingers or strikers of the last forty years. So discounting players of those positions, is he one of the best 200 midfielders to have played in England in the last forty years?
In my opinion he is probably in the top 200 players to have played in England in the last 40 years. That is my opinion & is open for debate.
What pisses me off is why Christ waddle felt the need to say what he said on the day the most capped England outfield player announced his retirement.no wonder ESPN are the only broadcaster willing to give you a job
