thats what ive told him, play footy as long and as high as standard as you can,
then watch the mighty bha after, but hes not having it.
I made that mistake of not going higher in footy and rugby and still regret it

seems like he doesn't care if he plays at a higher level or not therefore probably made the correct decision

I'm going both, gonna be risky getting back to Brighton from Uckfield but worth it. Out of interest Empire, is your lad in year 11, same age as me?

he's got to go just to give himself a chance. My lad has to go to Hastings for the U15 trial. I have 2 games to ref tomorrow so other half has got a 120 round trip from horsham

If he's good enough he will get spotted again. if he don't then was not good enough anyway.

It's better to take your chances when presented with them though. I agree about the lack of drive others posted which is a shame as that's what you need to make it to the highest level.

I don't want to be downbeat but I thought that Sussex wasn't a particularly high level of football? Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

How many players from County level go on the play at a higher level? How many players at the professional level got there via the County system?

Jr zimba wanted to trial today as missed out last year with injury ,good luck to all the boys today at william parker school .

That school does produce some very good players... I was their coach driver a few years ago when they won the national school champions or whatever it's called. Took them to Watford for their semi and Chelsea for the final.

Empire's lad may well have regrets when he's older but ultimately it's his decision not to play... The wrong decision IMO but it's still his choice to make. If he was my lad I'd be a bit gutted but then I'd rather go and watch/support him than go to Millwall today anyway!

Albion will be there to watch until the end of time. However, the opportunity to play the game will not!

Albion, Charlton and Chelsea among others actively scout youth football in Sussex. Anyone who is any good should get spotted well before the end of U16 football.

Paul Ifill
Jay Lovett
Gavin Geddes

Maybe Leon Legge

From County league that is.

That decision will ultimately only effect his selection for the team trial he is missing.

Only empire can gage whether this is deeper indication of commitment, drive, attitude etc.

I would add though for those that do go on to represent Sussex, those will be scrutinised my pro clubs here in the South East and one good game might offer an invite to an Academy.

But as Programme Seller has said, if he is good enough other opportunity will knock.

I had a choice between scholarship to Westminster Boys Choir, scholarship to Italia Conte School of the Performing Arts and playing sunday league football. I chose the footie and look at my today!

Well if that is your opinion, why not check out our squad?

CMS for example came through non-league; whereas many other lads were either loaned out from their clubs or released and dropped in BSP and below
