Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
Just having to hand over 200 notes in the post office for road tax I think I counted about 30 polish or lithuanian cars driving about 3 miles through Crawley.

Do these fuckers pay Road tax (or any tax for that matter), do they f***.

One rule for them, one rule for us, when the f*** is someone going to stand up and sort this mess out.

I presume you knew they were polish cars as they had polish plates so when we go and drive abroad should we pay that countries road tax too..........

But most of them are living here PERMANENTLY.

Its not a question of growing up, its a question of if they want to live here, they have to pay the same taxes as we do.

To drive to Poland we would have to pay a fair whack on toll roads across France and Germany!

The French and German's pay sweet FA over here. I think it's fair enough for non UK cars and lorries to pay a small tax per day they use our roads like we have to in their country.

As immigrants always do, they're contributing cheap, flexible labour to the economy and Polish workers in particular have benefitted from excellent vocational skills training - paid for by their government - which they're now bringing to this country. Good stuff.

Its your choice you pay the tax via petrol or road charges?

Since when has Germany had tolls on the autobahn? That certainly wasn't the case in June - they'd be rioting on the carefully-paved streets if they tried to introduce that in a country with such a fervent and long-engrained car culture.

And in France, two minutes driving on the generally-deserted "lost highways" that are the peage motorways proves that the vast majority of people are using the "routes nationals", which are free/paid for by the French taxpayer. Besides foreign tourists in the UK are also paying tax by refuelling here.

On the drive down from Barcalona to Benicassim I paid at least 30 euros in road charges. Not that I minded, the roads were nice and empty.

Hence my company announcing that they are going to cut wages by 15% within the next year, stop sick pay and reduce holiday pay for temporary employees.
Three cheers for the immigrants!

True but that is going into a whole new debate!

Personally, and I think I'm firmly in the majority here, I think road tax shuld be abolished. All raod tax should be on the fuel.

1) Zero administration. This money could be ploughed into public transport.

2) The more you use your car the more you pay

3) The more polluting your car the more you pay.

4) Visiters to our country using our roads pay too.

I really is THAT simple.

I am having an extension built at present by two Polish lads and they are a delight. Hard working, conscientious and professional in the extreme.

At the same time the garden of El Pres mansions has just been landscaped by a local firm, and they have been utterly shite, poor work, poor materials and piss poor attitude.

If local labor was better than Poles or Lithuanians then employers would be more inclined to use it.

I'm sure it's scant consolation but, rather than, world cup defeat stylee, piling the blame onto those awful foreigners, that sort of thing is what happens under capitalism and globalisation - not a great system at all but probably the least worst system, as someone once said.

We just had a Polish plumber come round to fix our bathroom after our local firm totally bodged it.

I can't stand this anti-immigrant Daily Express / Mail bullshit.

It's great having an infux in cheap labour to exploit!

Makes me feel so much better about all these eastern block workers coming into the country.

And how much has the British taxpayer paid for their training? NOTHING. It's a disgrace. :jester:
