[Politics] Musk (real life Bond villain planning world domination) needs a thread.

Remember when Jack Dorsey owned Twitter and was always posting unhinged conspiracy theories and Russian propaganda? 🤔

Me neither.

It's almost as if Musk bought the platform just so he could use it to poison social and political debate, sow division and do everything else possible to destroy the fabric of civil society. 🤬

EDS is the new TDS I see.
Never any coherent discussion with this sort of thing. Just people blaming insubstantial concepts like "left wing media" and "TDS".

Sensible people are WATCHING what they say and post, which are very quickly shown to be complete fabrications, and are asking themselves 'why would a man in this position say that?'. Sensible people are spending a few minutes thinking about the 2nd order implications of some of these things, and are worried.

And Trump / Elon fanciers just post things like "cry more lib" or "lol EDS is real". You're supposed to be adults.

Thank you. My thoughts exactly, but you articulated them so much better than I could!

I don’t know about the last few months but X is losing money and value.

Musk is far, far wealthier than he was just a short while ago.

It wouldn't matter if X had fallen to $0 - but it hasn’t. It seems it could now be worth in the same ballpark as he paid for it.

xAI (Grok) has soared in value since creation not long ago.

SpaceX continues to increase in worth at a stratospheric (see what I did there?) rate.

The one thing we can’t cling onto is “Musk is losing money and he may soon see sense”.

I agree, but the original post was about X and that was what I was referring to. He was also going to sue advertisers who withdrew their adverts citing contract agreements.
My post should’ve said X is losing money hand over fist.

it's setting up a hilarious standoff between Musk and the courts. advertisers will highlight he literally told them to eff off, then refer to 1st amendement, free speech, to say they dont have to do what he wants.
starting to use influence to interfere with businesses will rapidly wear off the shine of Musk and Trump in business community, who seem largely on board presently (tariffs aside). replacing the corrupt deep state with Musk mght work with the Maga crowd for a while, it's going to land very badly with the business and political classes on the right.
