My dad never listen to music nor ever bought a record, my mum on the other hand was very big on Jim Reeves.
And to this days think of her when i listen to him.

Remember listening to the Inkspots...Dad was more dance bands...Glen Miller,Ted Heath,Emundo Ross,Billy Cotton.....I was at the birth of Rock 'a' Roll. I bought a Dansette record player and had Elvis playing Blue Suede Shoes...Dad came in and said...Who's that? "Elvis Dad" I replied. "God,he won't last 5 minutes"......Parents are'nt always right!!

My dad loves his music, He's got hundreds of 45's from the fifties and well over a couple of thousand albums. Growing up in the 70's, Dylan, Jackson Browne, Poco, The Band, Gram Parsons was the soundtrack to my Childhood.

We still go to gigs together, he phoned this morning to see if i fancied going to see Beth Orton play in Brighton next month. He's 79.

Erm he used to listen to Jim Reeves...Burt Bacarach (nt sure if spelling) James Last etc ....hmm

My old man had 50 odd James Last albums, and since he died they all appear to be in my loft! I will admit to quite liking the big band sound though.
