Got to concur. Murray and Barnes remaining fit is all that stands between us and mid table.

Agreeing with WW now. jesus wept.

That and about 10 points.

We did fine at the tail end of last season with Barnes up front on his own with Bennett and LuaLua either side of him. If they did both happen to get injured at the same time for a long period we would presumably use the loan market to reinforce our squad rather than going on with just one striker.

Lua Lua is a loanee and Fran is unproven. Barnes and Murray remaining fit is crucial..the history we have with short termers should tell you that THAT is not the answer.

Poyet has shown that his ambition is to build something here and I agree that the summer was a disappointment for him what with Kevin Pillips and all that business.

He's a loanee that's here until January, so for another three months it's not a problem.

Of course Barnes and Murray being fit is important, as are Bennett and LuaLua, or Painter and Calderon, or our best two players in any position, I don't see it as a reason to panic really.

Gus has said he prefers not to use the loan system but I'm sure he would, in the situation you describe, rather than watch us plummet down the table with no strikers. We've had plenty of good loan players in the past so I'm not really sure why that wouldn't be 'the answer'.

It would appear that our goal scoring will suffer if Murray is out injured, judging by the comments by Brian Horton about Barnes 2 very easy chances that he missed.

To be fair I am just shitting myself because of how well we are doing. Not used to it I suppose. Keep expecting Gus to disappear to Wigan or somesuch and Glenn to break his leg.

Typical Brighton.

For goodness sake......Kevin Phillips was never coming here. It was just the usual NSC drivel on NSC. Shame that people like you got sucked in and believed it !
And no doubt you will believe all the usual twaddle next summer as well !

If Murray is a long term injury surely its time to switch to 4-5-1 & turn to the attacking prowess of Mr Matt Sparrow?

All was said by SCR that he came limping off after extending his knee too far, guess we won't hear till he's had an assessment tomorrow or Monday.

apparently we have a young lad called Jake Caskey, been the England captain already I believe and scored at international level, all be it only 17 or 18....
