The latest is multiple fatalities rather than multiple shooting.
The gunman has been shot dead, by Police or himself.
I will keep any thoughts until details come out to myself but I will just say that it is shocking when it happens just 10 minutes down the road but I am not entirely surprised.

After one of these gun incidents with multiple fatalities in the States where the gunman also killed himself I remember seeing a psychiatrist being interviewed about the event. He said that in the instances where the gunman kills himself it can make the situation even worse because it can mean there is no sense of closure or justice for the grieving families and friends. In effect they cannot have their day in court where the person may express remorse or guilt or apologise for his actions. And they cannot finally see the person put behind bars

Don't you just love the British press? Watched some of the live press conference and straight off the bat they were questioning police response times. Not unsurprisingly the Chief Constable indicated that he thought 6 minutes was pretty good. Sensible he did add that any police failings that might emerge later would of course be addressed. What irked me was how the reporter was straight on it with no apparent justification. It must have been a nightmarishly fluid situation so can we not give the police a break before the facts are known.

The world is burning out of control, civil war is on the horizon and the bbc show a story about a 4 year old skateboarder..

According to the BBC his social media has now been suspended and I have therefore removed the video.

This video is not removed as i have just watched it here. It is a sad watch that a young man can feel this way (and I do wonder about born wrong/evil vs today's society creating such a person). It's appalling that he then had access to deadly firearms in this country and it's despicable and utterly unforgivable what he did with them. As he had access to a firearm and did not seek help then he should have gone straight to shooting himself dead.

I'd agree with that. It appears that this individual's relationship with certain aspects of social media is a contributory factor in this atrocity.

Aside from being disrespectful to his victims - not least a 3 year old girl shot dead when she should have her whole life ahead of her - re-posting his videos on here feels like being part of the problem rather than the solution.

Incel has become quite a big thing in my kid's generation, particularly amongst my son's autistic peer group.

There are a lot of isolated young men, who are becoming more politicised within their social media echo chamber.
There are plenty of American/right-wing/religious commentators that will tell them that feminists/liberals are depriving them of their "right" to a sex-life.

Identifying as a discriminated against Incel, rather than a socially awkward Virgin, is clearly more appealing to them.
Throw in a decent chunk of mental health issues, exacerbated by the pandemic/lockdown and sadly this type of thing can happen.

Calling this out as a terrorist incident will do nothing to stop these types of cases from occurring.
This is a mental health issue.

It is a form of radicalisation and is being treated as such by government, I think. Biden called it domestic terror too. There is support through prevent and channel that will hopefully help but it is scary how people listen to online nonsense.

You can see it with all sorts of stuff. We have lots of examples on national scale wirh brexit and anti vaccine etc. Not to mention flat earthers. Vulnerable people can be radicalised. Hopefully support will get put in place.

Yes but this wasn't unofficial off Twitter or youtube but from an official UK news source. I agree it is better to remove it, in some circumstances, but your wording was unnecessary to imply that because i had quoted it (partly to show it was not taken down) that therefore I should feel guilty if there was a copycat (which you could say the same for for any terrorist incident). But it's your style though, passive aggressive.

Incel is short for Involuntary Celibacy.

It’s basically a mindset that has developed online over the last decade where men who can’t find a girlfriend and decide to blame the entire world for this problem rather than looking within. A lot of Incels fall in to the ‘nice guy’ trap, where they see themselves as being nice guys who girls (known as Staceys) look past because they prefer shagging blokes based entirely on looks (known as Chads)

The problem with that train of thought (well, one of many) is most INCELS are primitive troglodytes with next to no social skills, no care for their appearances, no hobbies etc but still expect the popular, good looking girl in their class/lectures/daily lives to notice them and fall head over heels in love with them. They end up forming these online communities where they all wallow in their collective pity and corrupt each other even further.

The people who are really off the deep end feel like women are put on this Earth just to pleasure men and that by not wanting to have sex with them they’re committing some kind of horrendous crime against nature. At the extreme it’s genuinely horrifying - Elliot Rodgers killed 7 people in America a few years ago because he’s an Incel. He’s almost worshiped in some corners of the internet.
