[Albion] Multiple North Stand "singing" sections

It's grim oop north
So i know this has been discussed many many times before but surely something desperately needs to be done to fix it.

There seems to be 2 if not 3 groups of singers now, all in different areas and all singing different songs.

The NS is small but as we know from away games a stand of that size can generate some serious noise - if everyones on the same page.

Seems this gets chatted about all the time, everyone wades in and then zero happens to help improve it. Is this something the club can help step in and make some changes - especially as the club seem to want to improve the atmosphere and we're having to wait 3 years until the away end gets moved.

The players waving their arms to gee up the crowd really isnt helping but shows how much they feed off the atmosphere too. How will we ever get it better??

Surely if all the singers in the north can get together that stand would be brilliant.

Wave your magic wand and make it happen then!!! What on earth do you think the club can do? Give everyone a song sheet and the order they must be sung in?

You are right in that this has been discussed on numerous times and yet the north stand still can't seem to get their act together.

As for the players, it's hardly surprising there was no atmosphere with the way the game was being played.

The soon-come home support South Stand is a completely blank canvas. Rather than try and reverse-engineer the North Stand, why not just designate the central sections of the South Stand as a singing section and encourage all the singers to congregate there? Seems the obvious thing to do

I completely agree. Dedicating the soon to be empty south stand as a proper singing section would be superb

And something the club can (and should) help orchestrate.

Additional bonus it will be next to the new away section which will organically boost atmosphere

But again, the club need to help make this happen i feel

I'm not in the North so can only go on second hand information but I've heard stories of someone starting a chant and then someone nearby starting a different one, like they're in a competition with each other? In short people doing that need to lose the ego and join together to support the team.
Regrettably, your assertion is correct. That reason is indeed part of their motivation.

Regrettably, your recommendation won't happen, precisely because of those folks' egos. They're better fans than the rest, you see.

Regrettably therefore, the club can do nothing about the issue. Even if they forcibly moved all the singers into one section (and they're not likely to want to force people to move anyway), there are a vocal group who would carry on doing what they're doing regardless.

Back in the day (GG) the north and south stands had their own singing (plus more) sections and would generate a terrific atmosphere with half the crowd we have at the Amex. Fast forward 40+ years and many of those same faces are appearing at the Amex, and on NSC, wanting an atmosphere but unwilling/unable to join in.

I think maybe its just because the sound doesn't travel across the north as well so 2 different groups may be singing and not hear the other side to join their song

That's why having everyone together would be great

Pretty sure everyone has the same agenda and thats to create a great atmosphere and all join in one the same songs

Needs people from one, or multiple, of these groups to take the lead & talk to each other about moving their season tickets to a chosen block. A bit of organisation between them. Only way really. Guys from the NSK (just using them as an example) need to get word out amongst people in the north stand to say ''hey, lets all group together out efforts, and gradually attempt to move our season tickets to block xxx''. That's the only way I see it happening. I wont hold my breath.

Or just move en masse to a designated singing section in the South Stand? It's noticeable that sound travels very clearly from South to North, in fact many songs in the North take their cue as a counterpoint to what away fans are singing in the South. Having home fans singing at both ends of the ground, with the South leading, would be a massive boost to the current fragmented efforts

The op is correct: has been discussed many many times before.

The problem is the really really really stupid types, during these discussions on here, have failed to heed the different groups cannot hear each other. The acoustics don’t allow.

Also, how do you organise spontaneity?

Amongst a number of other factors, including it’s perfectly ok for other stands to make some noise?

The End.

Not going to lie, I am currently in the WSU with family and I am considering the move to the South. I am naturally a singer and I am willing to sacrifice the view for more of an atmosphere.

Also, I have this middle aged guy and his geeky teenage son behind me who give a running commentary. Not just on our game but other games too...'oo so and so has just scored' blah blah. They don't shut up. Funnily enough, the one thing they don't do is sing, even when the WSU gets going. Does my head in.

Don't forget that unlike at the Goldstone people can't just go and move and stand with other groups of singers.
Everyone has an allocated seat and that is where they have to stay during a match.

As THPP says above, the only way to improve it is for them all to move so that they can create some noise in unison.
We all took the piss at Palace's relocation of their vocal group, but it has established them in one place together.

Or, move the people who are in the north on a price point only who don’t contribute to the atmosphere to the south and thus reduce the pockets of groups.
On a price point? In what parallel universe does PBOBE make the South Stand seats cheaper than the cheap seats in the North Stand? Or does he just raise seat prices in the North Stand to try and force folks to migrate South? You've really not thought this one through now, have you? 😀

So we lost yesterday due to a lack of coordinated singing?

These ' atmosphere ' threads are getting tiresome. You can't dictate to fans the manner in which they support their club.
All the arm-flapping by the players to the crowd does seem pretty much like an effort to deflect from their own lack of performance, has to be said
