The reason would be two fold.

One, you would need to talk to people to find out their ethnicity, it can't always be 'seen'.
Two, you would need to go to the Amex to achieve point one, something which you rarely seem to do.

I have to tell you that at the age of four, my Daughter announced loudly "I don't like brown people" as we passed an African chap in the street.
I promise you, that did not come from me or any other family member, and she was reminded of the Aunts and Cousins, family friends and neighbours that she has who are "brown people", and had only ever been kind to her. I don't know where it came from with her, but we have made sure that she does not judge in that way anymore.

Our family church has been the home of worship for a number of Sudanese refuges, which I think comes from various persecutions of Christians dating back through the years. The Iranian groups tend to date back to the Shah's deposition in 1979.

A Jewish work colleague of mine was telling me that their population in the area is higher than the national average, but the national total is widely overestimated. Sometimes being Jewish is confused with having elements of Jewish ancestry, which gets lost in the mother's line.

Up until the last 4 or 5 years I would have agreed.

Long standing Jewish community in Hove, a quiet and seemingly assimilated Chinese community, and going back a few years a wealthy priviledged Iranian/Persian student population. But we never saw a black community, or a general Arabic community, or even an Indian/Pakistani populous. Perhaps this was down to property prices in this part of the world?

But in my view things are changing. When compared to London our housing is now affordable, and so now our city and its population is beginning to evolve. For better, for worse? Only time will tell.

Yes we have quite a few - Brighton has always attracted lots of Immigrants from around the world - the difference is that we attracted a diverse amount from around the globe rather than from one or two countries .

In reality we are more multicultural than places than say Bradford which had fewer cultures but more immigrants - I grew up with Irish, Scots, chinese, Italians, Greeks and Indians - We even had a couple of English kids too

Brightons more multicultural than Bradford. I have heard it all now.

It's also got a bigger population than Mumbai and is closer to the equator than singapore.

Kids pick things up from other kids - it happens but people only turn into the loon racists that start threads like this because they need to blame someone who they perceive to be weaker than them for their failings or purely to try and make them fell superior to someone.

If your eyes, ears and brain can't work out why Brighton hasn't got a significant number of fans who are black or asian or fail to see that vast numbers of albion fans come from countries that are not northern European but are also not Black or Asian either its going to be impossible for them to think that multicultural means anything other than black and brown people.

This morning in Hove there was one point where every voice I heard was everything other than English, but its nothing new for Brighton & Hove we've always had visitors here and its really quite nice.

Thats because you think multicultural is only based on colour - Smarties are still smarties even if you take the blue one out - is that simple enough for you ?
