We're talking about Looney here, one of the few people who has the right name.

She did an amazing job in Northern Ireland and was a great personality too. Committed to her cause she did it with far more grace than many of her peers.

(Yes I met her once at the BBC and she was charming).

One day, Looney, after everyone you have ever come into contact with has done so, the grim reaper will OWN you finally and bloodily. The Earth's people shall applaud warmly with relief.

Straight talking?

Se was openly biased in favour of Sinn feinn and lost the confidence of the unionists so had to be removed. If your in that position diplomacy means being evenhanded regardless of personal veiws
She invited Adams and McGuiness an invite to a royal garden party as Well.
Hopeless.

No they will fry when the earth cooks in its own juices due to global warming long before that.

Or she was the victim of a Unionist whispering campaign when she didn't show bow to their every demand. Yes I've heard the bias claim before and according to my source (a respected ITN journalist) she was the victim of a rather nasty smear campaign.

A quote from the link you so helpfully provided, you ignorant little troll:

"Ms Mowlam, Labour MP for Redcar between 1987-2001, oversaw the talks which led to the 1998 Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland.

In 1998, as Northern Ireland secretary, she went inside the Maze Prison when it became clear that the peace process would only succeed with the backing of the prisoners. The loyalist UDA/UFF prisoners had previously withdrawn their support for the process.

She spoke to the prisoners face-to-face for 60 minutes, and two hours later the paramilitaries' political representatives announced they were being allowed to rejoin the talks."

That actually doesn't conflict with anything I said, so she can smarm terrorists. Pity she cant bury her prejudices when facing democratically elected politicians. But then who labour likes and hates is no real secret.

Exactly, winning over the trust of the IRA, and getting them to agree to a cessation of violence. Where the hell is the big deal in that. Any of us could have done that decades ago, it was just decided that we would continue to live in fear of reprisal attacks instead.

great to see that a thread regarding the imminent death of a public figure (whether the post was good natured or not) has turned into another NSC in-fight session.
