Indeed the Nash's, I was in Andrew's year, he is the youngest, Mark was the oldest I believe, who else was in your year?

Well friends of mine staying with Albion fans in my year, David Purcell, Mark Wells, David Sharples (although he was in my brothers year) Simon Podbury, Broderick Sharman. I've stood at the Goldstone many times and up and down the country with these lads. It's my unending sorrow that Brod died of a heart attack several years before we got the Amex. Thanks Lewes :(

Mark Wells brother was a printer in the troubles and printed one of the protest books at the time. I can't remember which one. I have a feeling it was More than 90 minutes.

Others in my year that I was friendly with, John Bearne, Graham Lazell, Mark Smith, Raymond McAvoy, Mark ? Maccas friend. I have forgotten so many names. :(

Sharples was in the year above me, I think you may of been in my brothers year or close to it, he was mates with the Burns brothers etc.
I know Mark Smith and his family, I used to play primary school football with Jof, his brother.

I was born in bungalow in Quarry lane in 1970, literally in the back room...I moved away in 2001, yes I meant the "old boot" it was built by the Boot family, who used to own the Hole in the Wall when it was a nice pub. Flintstones is/was at the top of Saxon Lane, which runs into Broad Street at the very bottom, I think there is/was a Thai eatery on the corner in front of it.

I think the place you are talking about which was Flintstones is now called The Office Bar.
Did you drink in the town in 1998 up until you moved away, if so which pubs?

Interesting read, all before my time in Seaford, when did you move away?

The Hole in the wall(later the V bar) has now closed down. The Boot(old boot) was still open the last time I went past or do you mean another place?
where was Flintstones?

Great shame about the Hole. Was a great pub in the mid 90s. Was apparently a Gay bar in the 80s.

Trying to think of other pubs that have disappeared, the only new ones I can think of were Flintstones and the Boot...

No other pubs have closed although the Seaview hotel had a bar for a while. The White Lion is the newest pub in town, which took over an old doctor's house. It was the previous owner of that house that discovered dyslexia by the way.

The white lion? That's weird as there is a white lion hotel which was always a pub when I lived in Seaford, in Claremont road. Slightly confusing.

I think you are getting confused Doug. The Boot is the newest. Don't doubt your story about the White Lion but the Boot opened in the early 90s.

Very true...

The Buckle: was run by a friends family, many early primary school days spent playing in and around the pub, had the smallest pool table I have ever seen.

THe Beachcomber: Worked and spent years as our local, was a really nice place when Pete Smith did all the work, then Brumwell brought it and did nothing to the place for 20 years, he ended up buying all the surrounding properties and sold them as a job lot.

The Viking Hotel: Bar down stairs in the basement, many years after hours in there before the place became flats.

The Sea Victorian Hotel: Another pub with views, but most memorable for "Colonel Boogies" a nightclub to rival the Trek back in the day. Now flats.

Seaford Head Hotel: Opposite the Tee for the long 5th hole, my brother had his first beer in there, while wearing his Seaford Head School uniform, got brought by Phil James who built the Trek in the early 70's. He turned the hotel into a really nice place to drink, now big homes with great views.

Trying to think of other pubs that have disappeared, the only new ones I can think of were Flintstones and the Boot...

I'm researching "Colonel Boogies" this is the ONLY refrence to it on the WWW amazingly.

Does anyone on NSC have any info on it, when it closed etc. and where exactly the hotel was? Thanks.

All the Seafordians I've ever know seem to think they are better than their East of the the Seven Sisters counterparts. One even pronounces it C.Ford. As if it was someone's name. Largely stereotyping I'm sure.

Which is the correct (and original) pronunciation, Miss Gull. Some of the presenters on Radio Sussex get this right, some don't. I groan with disappointment when they don't. Also, am I the last person in Sussex to pronounce Keymer KYMER? OK, I probably am......oh well, must go and feed the mammoth.....:)
