That’s great to hear. I have the oldest bike in my riding group but to seem to have the most reliable machine of us all. Mind you, there’s no expense spared with my baby! This is a fabulous bike to ride and would highly recommend one to those in the market for a sports adventure bike.
I love this bike but would consider upgrading to the new 1250GS if I could afford it!
I’m hoping to start flying lessons soon so budget on too many toys would be frowned upon by Mrs M!

His 1050 is an 08 plate I believe, he’s has it remapped and it goes like the clappers.
Out of interest, where are you planning on having flying lessons from?

Mines a 14 plate sport version. It is a bit lively but not bullet quick. It’s a good all rounder.

As for the flying lessons. I’ll probably go from Shoreham.
I haven’t booked anything as yet, but I will. I’m looking at doing a taster flight to see if I want to go through with becoming a qualified private pilot or not. I detest theory exams and don’t want to go through the study prep. The flying I think will be the easy part. I’m qualified to drive pretty much anything on the road and on boats on water. I want to add the air to the collection for some weird reason.
I also have qualified as a Transport Manager so I have it in me to take theory exams, I just don’t enjoy them. Anyone that does enjoy paperwork must be mad [emoji849]. It’s what I do all day in the office!

Sounds like you’re suitably equipped for challenge of flying. The reason I asked about where you might take the lessons is because one of my dad’s touring buddies owns Deanland Airfield in Ripe and there’s a flying school that operates from there, would have been a bit of a coincidence.

I mistook the Mini Bug to be a type of three wheel Bond bug. Just googled the Stimson and that is a bloody cool vehicle. Never seen one before, must have been a lot of fun.

Sorry to get side tracked from the OP
I believe I posted this picture on a 'My First Car Thread'
I had one of these - mine was virtually the same and I learnt to drive in it.
850cc mini engine - went like the clappers.
Problem was the tonneau soft top - some jealous bar steward slashed it twice in the year I had it.
Bought a MK11 1600e Cortina after.

Wow i never saw one of those before, they are cool.

Mk2 Cortina was my first car. I had a 250RD (air cooled) which got nicked and bought the Cortina from the insurance money. Had a girlfriend at the time who didn't like going on the back of the bike and was sick of travelling 10 miles to work in the winter and arriving soaking wet. Decked out the Cortina with the obligatory furry dice and the green sunstrip with mine and her names on it.

The laws on 250cc's on L plates had just come out so got more for the ins that i would have if i'd sold it as the value of 250s went down a lot. Rode around without L plates for a while before it got nicked. At the time i hated the new law but looking back, a few days into my 17th year buying a 100mph bike with crap brakes was a bit of a disaster waiting to happen but i survived a few years. Just.

B-right-on that made me chuckle.
I had my name emblazoned on the green sunstrip - what a berk I must have looked.
One of the reasons I gave up on my Yamaha was getting soaked and frozen traveling from Coldean to Newhaven twice a day - just over twenty miles!

What other bikes do you have?

My sidecar outfit.jpg

I've owned this one for over 20 years, taken me all over Europe many many times, great for all the family.. Also got another full dresser Valkyrie in bits being restored, nearly finished, and my work/Winter bike is a Burgman 650...zero street cred but more fun than it should be!

The dealer sent me a picture of my new bike after having the upgrade kit fitted.

Taken Friday off work so I can pick up. Would pick it up before but waiting for some engine sliders to be fitted, for some added protection.

Only managed 1 day at Brands Hatch so far this year, it was absolutely freezing and rained in the afternoon but I still got 5 good sessions in. Was due at Silverstone this Monday but had to forfeit for a family matter. Next stop Donington.

Indy or GP..? I've (only) done the GP (about 4 times) on my Thunderace, although not for a few years now. Love being in top gear with 10k on tacho down Pilgrims Drop..!
Seems common for riders even in novice group to come in vans nowadays, whereas I'm one of the rarer sights, someone who rides to and from the circuit.

I’ve only ever done Indy, 5 times now and just booked it again last night
The only circuit I’ve ever managed to redline in top gear was Mugello on my 636 ninja, 150mph and getting smoked by my dad on his RSV4 Factory :(
My brother and myself have to go in his van as our bikes are track bikes.

Managed to get a couple of short rides in dodging showers over the weekend. Absolulty love it, so easy to ride and just about the right amount of power.

The bloody weather this weekend made me feel like a kid at Christmas who had been given the best preseent ever but no batteries and all the shops are closed. Does not look like improving soon either :glare:

My husbands new bike arrived on Friday. He PX his Honda CRF250 Rally for a Royal Enfield Interceptor.

We managed to get in a couple of rides over the weekend, avoiding the rain. He is over the moon with it, really enjoys riding it.

Looks like a fun piece of kit
What exactly is it?

2022 Honda Monkey bike. 125cc, it is very light and sips petrol.

I have managed 55mph on it, though when I picked it up the speedometer was still in kph, I thought bloody hell this is quick before I realised what was wrong :lolol:
