Most intimidating away day

Think that was '86. They hadn't lost at home for a year and Fergerson scored for us. They broke a wall down and pelted us.

Ninian Park 84 was worse. Got battered that day.

Just to elaborate on this, getting there was pretty uneventful. I'd wrongly thought that having turned them over 4-1 in the first leg, they wouldn't be interested and we'd take over the place. Turning up, they had about 18,000 there while we had just a few hundred. Stood down near the front until a lump of concrete landed at my feet, so moved back a bit.

I remember being quite pleased when they scored as they may lay attention to the game but we ended winning 2-1 and it turned into the most incredible atmosphere. I think John Robinson scored the 2nd and instead of celebrating turned round and ran back to the half way line.

At the end of the game we were kept in for ages while they lit a bonfire in the stand to the left and burnt policeman's hats. When we finally got out we couldn't move anywhere. Hundreds of police and horses trying to get us to the station while anything the Millwall fans could get hold of came flying over the top. I had to nip down a side road as I needed to get back to London Bridge rather than a direct train back to Brighton that had been laid on, just stood in a corner while they ripped the train to pieces.

Strange evening.

We couldn't find our car that night as we had to leave by a different route to the way in. Spent ages wandering around with hoards of Millwall fans charging around looking for Albion fans to attack. Wasn't much fun!

my first away day was 1972 at Portsmouth. We decided to go on the train early and arrived just after 11am. I wish I didn't bother going early. We were on our toes from the get-go. Managed to get back to the station and wait for reinforcements to arrive. We were still on our toes after a couple of specials coming in from Brighton. Me and a couple of mates even managed to get into their end thinking it was the away end. Luckily both teams had the same colour scarf. A baptism of fire but it didn't put me off going to away games.

For me, definitiely Millwall 1991 play off semi final. The only game I've ever attended where I wish I could have been magically transported somewhere else. The Robinson goal was the final nail. I can remember so little from the actual match but do recall thinking 'oh shit, I really wish that hadn't gone in'......

The whole week was edgy. Millwall had the East at the Goldstone but there were a load of them in the North. Every time we scored at home we invaded the pitch & they kicked off and we scored four times.

We assumed everyone would turn up away but no one did. When they set fire to their programmes in their own end I was properly petrified. It was only 5 years after Bradford.

I remember going down the players tunnel with a couple of mates one year at Cardiff after the game to get away from their fans. Got escorted through to the outside of the ground and thought it safe when some work mate started calling my name. He was dressed up in the Albions finest merchandise. I had to talk to him for a few minutes but it seemed like ages.

Yep, easily this one, they did want to kill us all and probably eat us.

How i miss these games, the younger fans will probably never discover the passion/tension and hate that was displayed at this match.

One of my top three away games ever.

The east was fine...we had a bit of banter with 'wall fans that day

Stamford bridge when we had all the horrible stuff down at the goldstone. About 20 of us went in the shed. No point going in the away end. Very interesting after the game

Ninian park 1976 Mellor scored no segregation celebrated(bad move) got chased out the ground by 40 odd Cardiff at the age of 15 Worst watching England Turin 1980 chased by youths with knives chains on three different days before England played,two of us in hotel and the manager would not let us out as Italians waiting outside for us and one point we had the wardrobe up against the door When we did chase them off with a few other England fans we were rounded up at gunpoint and taken to the local nick.held till late at night then released after getting told by the police there was mob italians waiting out side,16 of us made our way back to our hotels one got stabbed another a broken leg

The only time I've ever really been scared for my life at a football match.

I was only 17 and just remember being kept in for ages and fires being lit in the home ends.

48.000 at the game. They weren't taking prisoners that day.

We had more than a few hundred that game, I seem to recall it was about 1500. I went back very early the following season, a warm late summer evening, and saw John Robinson get attacked by one of their fans, only for Mark Beeney to intervene. That was pretty lively afterwards too.

We had 2,500 according to Brian Moore! However, it felt like we had 23 compared to that massive mob from Millwall.
