Mortons ground

I had a plumber in yesterday repairing our central heating and seeing Brighton stuff remarked that he supported Morton and that he went to a game at The Goldstone once and it was exactly the same layout and design as Mortons and asked if I knew who designed the Goldstone originally and could it have been the same man copied Mortons as they are 20 years older than us.

Any body have any ideas or knowledge on this?

Unbelievable, if Archer was still here I doubt it would look anything like Mortons ground, probaly more like a retail park....

Oh.

This was a serious question in the hope that somebody may have been to Mortons ground at some time and noticed the similarity as regards the layout and look etc that this chap spoke of.

Mortons Ground looks nothing like the Goldstone - there is an uncovered terrace/seats behind the goal. The Floodlights are of a strange variety - 8 of them like spacehoppers on the roof of the stands. Large shed along one side of the pitch and a wooden stand as the main stand that runs the full length of the side....

anyone see any similarities?

I seem to remember it was something to do with the design of the floodlights. Could be totally wrong though!

If only we had a chief executive and board who actually cared about the fans, maybe then we'd know the answer to this guff.

So apart from the fact that their 'west stand' doesn't cover the whole length of the pitch what exactely are the similarities?

Now THAT ground looks quite similar to one I am very familiar with. Sadly, even Cowdenbeaths is a bit better than ours.

If I'm not mistaken Greenock Morton have had some of the tastiest footy strips in seasons gone by, they used to have a tartan one in the early 90s and at the same time were sponsored by a Scottish toffee manufacturers... then again with the amount of chemicals my brain has dealt with over the years I could be wrong. Maybe getting confused with the team Wet Wet Wet were involved with...possibly.
