Do we think this going through could increase the chances of a bypass?
Like with the dog walkers crossed at Lancing Manor roundabout. Another hold up spot.
Hold on, there is a granny with a zimmer wanting to cross by the school. Let us put lights in there.
No amount of removing lights or crossing points will change the congestion from Lancing through Worthing. The hold up spots just hold up traffic getting to the next hold up spot.
Heaven forbid a granny or children should need to cross near a school, how dare they!
Will really feel for commuters stuck on A27 during and after it is constructed if the deal goes through.
A27 is dreadful as it is and this will make it worse.
Who would go shopping in rush hours?

IKEA isn't open in the morning rush hour, but it is in the evening one.

Where would you route it?
It is also open until 10pm, so it makes sense to go at 8pm, or wait until Sat/Sun.
Houghton
IKEA anywhere on a Sunday is a bloody nightmare !
The best plan I've seen is by utilising the A283, then via or nearby Storrington, Houghton and rejoining at Fontwell.
Which is why I tend to go in the late evening.
And to build some urgently needed housing in an area earmarked for housing.
Where would you route it?
May as well call the A272 the Worthing / Lancing bypass then...
80% of A27 rush hour traffic is by single occupancy vehicle. There is the problem
