“ yesterday we received a visa from Moisés Caicedo so that he can travel to England. He has tickets to travel tomorrow, he will undergo medical check-ups to join Brighton."

Interesting in that Twitter thread, is they mention we have reached our quota for foreign players for the competition and he may have to go to Belgium.

So the issue isn’t a work permit but HGP? That can’t be right surely, unless there is another rule about foreign players?

Can't be right. As he's 19, he doesn't have to be named in the 25 man squad. If he's not named in the squad, it doesn't matter whether he's HGP or not - as the HGP rule applies only to the 25.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

There is a max allowance of 17 non home grown players in a squad of 25.

Perhaps this is why Bernado was deemed surplus?

Moises Caicedo?

My Spanish is no good. Did he, by any chance, mention a flight number...? ???

We’re going to need NSC’s best flight tracker on this. After the Ali-J tracking scenario, do we know where in the Hove the medical is done?

We should be able to track him all the way as well as identifying what hotel he is staying at in addition to what he is having for breakfast on Saturday.

Edit: Flight number probably:

21:55 IB6454 UIO Quito - Madrid.
15:55 IB3166 Madrid - London Heathrow

There's this: "In the Premier League, the number of overseas U21 players a club can sign will be limited to three in the January transfer window and six per season moving forwards. This enables the recruitment of the best players from around the world to train and play together with homegrown talent. Under FIFA’s rules, the UK’s exit from the EU will also mean that clubs will not be able to sign players from overseas until they are 18."

We've recalled Moder and Karbownik - does that count? Any more?

I doubt they'd count. We've only recalled them from loan, and that text refers to "signing" players. We "signed" both of them pre-Brexit.

I think that is just a misunderstanding by that guy on how the squad rules work - perhaps not knowing that as a 19 year old his nationality doesn't matter.

There's a post brexit limit of six (foreign) under 21s...
