We’re going to need NSC’s best flight tracker on this. After the Ali-J tracking scenario, do we know where in the Hove the medical is done?

We should be able to track him all the way as well as identifying what hotel he is staying at in addition to what he is having for breakfast on Saturday.

More seriously, usually you would want your own club staff doing a medical. Under these circumstances, it seems likely we'd have outsourced the testing to an organisation from his country

There's a post brexit limit of six (foreign) under 21s...

In the Premier League, the number of overseas U21 players a club can sign will be limited to three in the January transfer window and six per season moving forwards. This enables the recruitment of the best players from around the world to train and play together with homegrown talent. Under FIFA’s rules, the UK’s exit from the EU will also mean that clubs will not be able to sign players from overseas until they are 18.

They'll also be subject to a points criteria which is linked to stature of the League they are playing in, the club, the clubs appearances in continental competitions, and International caps. 15 points and they'll get their work permit. 10-14 points will be subject to an appeals committee to make the decision on whether they qualify.

Although the Equadorian league isn't up to much, Caicedo's club has appeared recently in the SA equivalent of the Champions League, plus he's capped at senior level, so I guess this has been enough to get him over the line points-wise.

Thank you for sharing that. It's clear that an awful lot of hard work and determination has gone into the possibility of us signing Moises Caicedo.
Hopefully now that we have forged South American contacts and learnt how they operate, that it will give us an advantage if further opportunities arrive in the future.

It sounds like it's a snake pit that we've done well to find our way through. Let's hope we can get the deal over the line.
It's a bit mental that our football club is being written about in a New York Times article and being mentioned alongside AC Milan, Manchester United and Chelsea.

I would think he would have already undertaken medicals, but maybe some final ones that have to be done under the supervision of our medical team ? (IIRC there were a couple of transfers a few seasons ago, that were well down the line and then failed medicals supervised by us).

And remember Colin Goldstone was playing for us regularly when the medical team picked up his problem. I would think our medical team would be extremely highly qualified with the best of facilities available to them here locally.

A player cannot be granted a work permit until they have a contract, they won't get a the contract until they've completed the medical, they do not need a work permit to have a medical. They may require a visa to enter the country but that will be granted with strict stipulations including the fact they will be unable to undertake any training or take part in any official club activities beyond the medical until the work permit is granted.

When we signed Jose Izquierdo he was in Brighton completed his medical and there was about another a week before his work permit was finally granted (he was pictured watching an open training session at an Amex that he couldn't take part in as he had no work permit). Once the permit was granted he had to leave the country and come back in on the work permit.

The club will pay for a private test after 5 days, under the test to release scheme, which if negative means he'll no longer have to isolate so that will speed the process up slightly.
