My only hope is there is no reaction from the stands to him saturday and can see something coming out from the club in the coming days along the lines of acknowledges mistake, now focused on helping Brighton blah blah

Need to soften the landing for him and in many ways it would probably be easier for him to return in an away match
Why would anyone do anything negative against him we're all really happy he's here.

Irrespective of any boos, and there might be a few that do, he'll soon be cheered and his song sang with gusto when he does his normal in a game.
Then those booing need a slap round the head and told to shut the f*** up

This.

The Caicedo Ballon D'Or song needs to ring out loud from the stands on Saturday.

This is a quiet, shy kid from a poor upbringing who is still only 21 and doesn't have much English. Of course he's going to give social media control to his agent and of course his agent is going to get the old dollar signs in the eyes when tapped up by Arsenal.

Moises is a good kid and an unbelievable footballer. We need to get behind him and show him how great it is to stay here.

He has two + one years left at the end of this season. He doesn't need a new contract but I'm sure under the terms of the existing one he can be given a pay rise
But what's in it for the club? Just giving him money for nothing. Might as well save that for if he stays past the summer, or give to others.

On the whole I would agreed but there are also a few exceptions in the crowd (see Leeds draw at home ahead of Potter now famous history lesson).

Not expecting anything widespread but think club can soften the landing for him by some well coordinated putting any issue to bed comms before the match

Big Balls? I bet his agents have none at all.

This is my guess about what will happen in the next week or so.

We will put a new 5 year contract worth about £15m to the lad (£60k pw), the spineless quick-buckers will then grab their 10% or so of that deal because they won’t have the balls to advise Moises to not take the money in the short term.

Seems a bot of forgetfulness going on here. Arsenal only did the same as Chelsea did with Cucurella - keep coming back with a higher bid. The only real difference is that Chelsea kept going until they got to a point where TB said 'OK then' - and Arsenal didn't.

In both cases, there was player unsettling going on

That would be my idea too (though I'd probably go to £50K a week rather than £60) - but sadly I suspect the club has already done that. Probably several times, and probably still on the table for signing.

Don't think that's true though is it? Man City kept coming back with higher bids, and getting rejected, then weren't happy to go above 40m. Chelsea then stormed in and agreed a deal within a few days. That's how it seemed from the outside anyway, obviously none of us know what was really going on.

We don't know the full details. In the summer, did Brighton just turn down the bids, whilst accepting there may be a higher bid?
And in this window did Brighton tell clubs 'no, and don't come back with further offers as he's not for sale for any amount'?

We don't know, but it is clearly different when you're in the middle of a season with games to prepare for.

It's perfectly true. Citeh did indeed make a few bids, and then pulled out as they realised their valuation didn't match what TB wanted. Fair dos, like Arsenal wth Caicedo. Chelsea came in and kept upping their bids until the little bell in Tony's head went 'ting'. Arsenal could have tried the same, but ultimately didn't.

A player who is earning a very good wage and maybe in a team in Europe. His head my not be turned so easily.

There's nothing wrong in rewarding your best players. Also it further justifies a large value.

But if we gave him a big pay rise, with no change to the length of contract, the wage still wouldn't be enough to compete with the rich 7. And we could equally encourage him to stay with the offer of higher wages in a new contract, but with something in it for us. Have there been examples of us giving a player a payrise for nothing in return before?

Why would they announce it so who knows. Do your company announce to all when they give you a pay rise

Same contract - but with a codicil taking it up to £50K a week. Poor little siblings in Ecuador no longer starving - and it silences those poor plums who think we're keeping him enslaved on £3.5 K a week (wish I could be on something like that!).
Plus a £2M cash bonus if he stays until June 2024 (he can then have 10 years at a 'Big Club' on a £100K+ a week (£5M+ a year) career, starting when he's still only 22).
Agents - I'll take 5% for that advice, and you'll still be successful rich money grabbing bastards. Take it or leave it!

Lewis dunk - alleged highest salary clause - but appreciate not a helpful example 👍🏻
