We’ve seen off Arsenal but Jorginho going only makes me more concerned about Chelsea. Wouldn’t put anything past Boehly. If we get a bid north of £100m I think ‘not for sale’ begins to wobble. If we did stand firm in that scenario, it would be a massive moment - bolder than any signing.

Neither the preferred option, but once the dust settled on Potter they did us an unintentional favour on that one, and with Cucurella as well, a great bit of business. Why people are happy giving Arsenal ‘a pass’ when they aren’t much better as a circling shark picking off whoever they want, or at least trying to, I don’t relate to. Liverpool or another northern club would be more palatable as a Caicedo destination for me.

Re Caicedo coming back to work, I'm not really sure there'll be an issue.

He's 21, quite shy, and probably doesn't have a massive social circle in this country yet. He hangs around constantly with the other South American amigos, none of whom will bat an eyelid at this and all of whom will welcome him back warmly. Secondly, he was happy enough until he changed agents this week. It was never a case of wanting to leave the Albion, more one of wanting to accept a bigger offer, which is totally understandable (and his teammates will agree). The agents would have told him what was on offer, and that the only way he could get that move (and the money and a possible title medal) now was to rock the boat and put a statement out. "Play the X Factor card, Moises" they'd have said. "Mention your poor family in Ecuador, go for the sympathy vote, that'll do it". There's no way Caicedo came up with that statement himself, is there? It's been said this week that he'd been aware of Chelsea interest previously but shown no sign of dissatisfaction at the Albion, probably because Chelsea aren't going to win anything this season, whereas when Arsenal came in, suddenly there was a possible chance to win the Premier League at stake, hence his interest.

Footballers will be used to their teammates getting offers, and it's all quite normal for them. They'll take the piss out of each other and move on. Can't really see De Zerbi penalising him for it either, as he'll know he's a nice kid whose agents have just seen a potential pay day for themselves (and their "journalist" mates on the social media scene).

That’s probably about it, with the Calceido situation made worse by the high number of non dickeads we have at the club who just get on with playing football and keeping negotiations private- Veltman, Gross, March, Dunk, Ali Mac, Lallana, etc, etc - all great role models and no doubt will put him right.

He’s a young lad who hasn’t been helped by his agent. TB has put a marker down to other clubs and that’s good enough for me.

Of course, I'm not suggesting booing the lad although expect some of our more narrow minded supporters will.

However he needs to be seen to apply himself once again. I'm not the happy clapper sort, he's got to show us he can still apply himself and conduct himself appropriately. There has been a spectacular miscalculation of trust which he put into his new agents, rather than the club that fought to sign him, nurture him and gave him the ideal platform for his career.
