The non-CL European leagues are also nice to qualify for in the sense that they would be the biggest opportunity to actually win a title. Usually the top English teams are in the CL instead, and usually also not a great risk to encounter the European giants. If Brighton would qualify for the EL, the club would be one of the favorites to win it.

Also consider potential risk of our PL position the same season. Euro games require a greater depth of squad which I don't think we have right now.

Not sure that's the point. He is probably already earning enough that he wouldn't have to work again if he got a compensation pay based on existing wages but I doubt anyone, given a choice of having the same earnings or having 5 times as much would turn it down, in whatever job they do.

Yes I agree that earning more is a big pull and I don't blame him for wanting to earn more. My point is that some people are specifically commenting on the possibility of him getting injured, and therefore the relevance of how a new contract would ensure his family are catered for etc. These are two separate points. By all means say 'we'd all like to have a big pay rise', but the comments of 'it's fair enough because it secures his family' are wrong, because Brighton could secure his family too.

I’m fascinated by the agency aspect of this. What prompts Caicedo to choose this particular outfit to negotiate the biggest deal of his life when it has no track record? Would love to know the reason.

Can’t help being suspicious that they went to him with the Arsenal offer already in place. The inexperience of the agents would work in their favour when it comes to contract negotiations. A neat way of unsettling a player and letting the agents take all the flak in return for their huge payday. All purely speculative of course - but there’s not much else to do but speculate. Moises may have other connections with these guys, who knows?

I'm not aware of anyone in the UK media pointing out that Brighton need to be compensated not just for the player, but for sorting all that mess out. Anyone could have signed him when we did, they just didn't have the stomach for the work involved.

The problem was understanding who were real representatives or not and the fact he had 4 agencies claiming partial representation.

He was shopping around for new agents end of last year - his previous reps were South American / Ecuadorean and with multiple representatives no doubt wanted to simply this for any move.

Make no mistakes this was all driven by Moises , he would have agreed a plan with his agents when deciding which one to work with

Yes, there are the likes of Dunk, March etc that will stay but the likes of Mitoma, Mac Allister, Caceido and probably Sarmiento, Encisco will be firstly developed to help the club but ultimately the reality is they will be sold on for a huge profit.

Only TB can answer that , but i would like to think he sees our players in the same way we do , as a life long supporter i would guess he sees them improve themselves and the club , work hard to get us as far as possible . Obviously when the time comes for a sale he wants what is best for both the player and the club , i don`t think he is any different from the guy in the stands ( which of course he is one ) until a fee is broached and then he has to become the businessman that he is , again looking out for the club , but i don`t see him look at our players from the get go as "what can i get for him " other than not buying a 33 year old with no resale value at the end of a 4 year contract .

They seem to have strong links with Ecuador, Pervis follows them on Twitter but doesn’t appear to be in their books.

We didn’t get a big fee for Trossard. It wasn’t that much more than we paid for him and he’s a lot more accomplished now. And there was time on his contract.
Arsenal got the right end of that deal for sure.
Of course we’ve been the winners in other deals.
If we got £75m for a player who had played 26 PL games it’s another Albion win.
