Yes, why not?
See my last post, the last season proves as soon as players get to the level we are seeing they want to leave, how do we ever progress as a club when football is broken in such ways?

We are in our highest ever position at the half way point and our best player (IMO) has still had his head turned, and it will be the case forevermore, no point pretending we are suddenly going to sign another Moises who will be stay for years.

You can imagine us having a better midfield that Caicedo, Lallana/Gross and Mac? It’s one of the best midfields in the league. You must have a pretty fierce imagination because if anything this fiasco just proves as soon as you get players who are a higher level they leave.

Mitoma and March on fire, Dunk in the peak of his powers, world class midfield, a top young goalkeeper… only thing missing is a true top class forward (Ferguson?)
Yes. No reason to think otherwise.

I think it used to be worse, star players could be raided up to early March!
No one wanted early March - he had no consistency and floundered in front of goal.

Current March would be a great addition to many sides however.

I think I get it. As said, this is the best it”s ever been in terms of talent in the squad and talent in the wings. People won’t let themselves believe this is the new Brighton and Hove Albion and keep saying look what happened to Southampton etc. Well I prefer to look at Villarreal, Ajax etc who have been doing this for years. Villareal is near me in Spain. It has been run by the same wealthy, local family since its’ rise through the leagues. Sound familiar? They show us what can be achieved by being smarter and well run. Enjoy it folks.

I wonder how much money a run in Europe would bring in? Perhaps selling Caicedo at top whack would be more beneficial (financially) to the club in the long run.

Qualifying for Europe is no way a given, even with Caicedo.

If he does get prized away from us it’ll be disappointing BUT the club is pretty good at finding players these days and £70/80m buys a lot. It wouldn’t be the absolute end of the world especially if he doesn’t want to be here.

Qualification for the Europa League group stage is worth £3.3 million. Every group game won pays approx £570,000. You'd get another million for winning the group, half that for finishing second.

The overall winners get about £8 million, £4 million for runners up. Beaten semi finalists get about £2 million with prize money approx halved for each round you go out earlier than that.

So if you won the thing with a 100% record in the group stage the maximum it could pay is £16 million, but you do automatically qualify for the Champions League group stage the next season which is worth about £150 million before you even play a match.

You can just see where this is going, Chelsea will bid 80m on 11pm on Tuesday night, he will leave and we won’t have time to get a replacement.

Arsenal won’t offer that kind of money but a desperate Chelsea might, at what point does all this tossing money getting thrown around just lose all its value?

What’s the point of 80m in the bank when we won’t be able to replace him and it derails our season? Not really sure, I get the club needs these kind of transfer fees to be sustainable but it’s only a matter of time before the conveyor runs out of steam.

I feel like this season is our best chance we are ever going to get at possibly breaking the top 7/8, it would be very cruel to see that chance ripped away.
My view is that Tony will hold out.

It’s my belief that he’ll go to the club he allegedly supports in the summer for £90m-£100m, a club renowned for overpaying (unlike Arsenal). He’ll play alongside Casemiro.

By this time, our European fate will be known and his replacement will have been identified and/or purchased.

3 days to go. Can’t wait until Wednesday morning with Caicedo still a Seagull.

Sherwood is tainted in his viewpoint in matters regarding us. Best ignored. Or laughed at.
I would not listen to Sherwood talk about anything. He’s a bit of a dinosaur with his views and not too smart either. Google some of his punditry; the guy is an idiot.

I think both he and Dunk were both well supported after their respective transfer pushes. In the case of Dale, he straight away got his head down and I remember you couldn’t fault his effort and performances. There wasn’t any negative stuff, at least I don’t remember any.
Plus the fact I think Burnley were in the PL and we were in the Championship at the time, he was a lot older, AND he'd given us several years bloody good service, unlike the childish ungrateful scrote who is currently kicking off.

I take it that is just the prize money? Match income on top plus advertising deals etc?

A DULLARD will be able to provide better figures, but a run in Europe apart from the Champions League doesn’t bring in that much, takes its toll on extra fixtures and requires a larger squad with consequent effects on the wage bill. Selling Caicedo would probably bring in more. But I imagine TB values little old Albion qualifying for Europe as worth more than mere money, as I’m sure most of us do! (Because it isn’t our money)

All of which would be trumped by 'status' - assuming of course the Albion didn't do a West Ham/Bumley/Leicester.

I still think he will be an Arsenal player by the end of the window. If he stays what Caicedo are we getting one that half arsed, disruptive?

No, but regarding comments like 'he could get a career ending injury', Bloom could ensure he was on the kind of salary that meant he and his family would have many millions.
Not sure that's the point. He is probably already earning enough that he wouldn't have to work again if he got a compensation pay based on existing wages but I doubt anyone, given a choice of having the same earnings or having 5 times as much would turn it down, in whatever job they do.

That’s just prize money, there would obviously be extra income streams on top of that. Although i think a majority of advertising, certainly in the stadium, is with UEFA partners and included in the prize money.

I can’t call this one and don’t want to. I think we’re all resigned to MC going in the summer, and it’s going to come down to TB/PB’s view on:

a) whether they think the player will sulk or disrupt the squad if he stays. (Seems unlikely from the little I know)

b) whether they receive an offer that is impossible to refuse (significantly above player’s market value)

It’s not in anyone’s hands but TB’s, and I’m not playing poker against that guy.

How soon is now?

I too think he will be gone, and whilst he may stay I don’t think he is the disruptive type(notwithstanding the fact that his agents clearly are).
However, getting 100% commitment during games may be another matter
