I have a funny feeling that amongst the options the club is considering, this is near the top
Hang on. When he came back from the WC he was very happy at Brighton. He said that he wanted to help us get towards Europe. Now, all of a sudden, he has apparently changed his mind and that is not on his agenda anymore.
Why should we, who have done nothing wrong, throw a vast sum of money at him, for just a few months, to try and persuade him to put his heart into playing for us again. Its utter and complete bollocks. He stays on the same money until he inevitably goes in the summer. If he turns around and changes his mind again and wants to commit himself to us for at least another full season ( 23/24 ) then that is a different matter. Then you can reward him with a lot more money.
He has been tapped up and offered more money. Trossard all over again. Funny that. Same club involved again. Same tactics ( re Mudryk ) Same MO. If they don't get Caicedo, West Ham will be the next target, if they haven't already been tapping up Rice.
Caicedo needs someone to take him to one side and tell him that he will have a much wider choice in the summer. Bigger and better clubs than Chelsea and Arsenal will covet him. It will suit everybody. We will get top dollar in a bidding war.

I'm 20 odd years older than you and knew I shouldn't glance at my Ipad when I got into bed. It took me an hour and a half after that to put it down and get some sleep.
Football is a passion.
Same here, massively pissed off and actually spent about an hour playing through all the scenarios and likely outcome, why, I couldn’t tell you, it’s not my employee or money!

Played golf this morning and parred all the par 3’s for the first time, so there is that!

Very disappointed to once again see a player force their way out of our club. The ugly side of modern football as big teams boast ridiculous financial resources as they bully their way through to players. Greed powered agents and Twitter merchants turning the heads of players during a season which has otherwise been brilliant for Brighton.

When Trossard and Moises joined the Albion, what exactly were they expecting? 6th mid way through a season and a genuine chance at European football and it’s just been thrown back at our faces. Loyalty lost. Perspective is overshadowed by the bigger paycheques. Is the thought of staying just 4 more months to see out a successful season (and then securing an even better move) really that daunting?

No longer interested in the transfer circus months. Filled with ‘leakers’ helping agents get their pay day, toxic arguments from fans and speculation circle jerks adding fuel to the fire.

And what was suggested may well be key in 'persuading' him to get his head down, working hard in order to get a much wider choice with bigger and better clubs than Chelsea and Arsenal. And if it means we get top dollar in a bidding war, the £2m or so that @Berty23 suggested will prove to be a very good investment. It's never wise to let anger come into business decisions

I think Amadou Haidara is the potential replacement, but that’s a deal for the summer IMO.

Sure, but it’s not exactly a confidential job description, is it. Caicedo knew what he was buying when he employed the agent.
Which is why we agree ! . How far MC is prepared to go now he has seen the response will tell us a lot about his true character . I would like to believe he will take the route LT didn`t , and settle the ship , but i am pissed off with him screwing our FAC chances .

So Dale Stephens didn't help us get promoted after we refused to let him go? And Dunk has been an absolute liability in the last few years after stopping him going to Fulham? And Harry Kane is really letting Spurs down at the moment, having stopped him going to City?
What on earth are you talking about?
I think it’s fairly obvious what I’m talking about.

Comparing this to the Stephen’s situation is frankly laughable, Dunk maybe less so, if you choose to forget about him being made one of our biggest earners off the back of it - Burnley (and Fulham lol) vs Arsenal or Chelsea …. Hmmmmmm yep, must have been genuinely hard for Dale in particular, you know - when the dust settled - I’m surprised he managed to refocus at all tbh… absolutely not relevant at all. That and DS was a squad player with massively limited ability… I’m not even sure he was that serious about leaving.

Even if, and it’s a rather big IF, this situation is akin to the DS situation the hyperbole around the club, the bidders, the hubris of the player - yeah, it’s like comparing an Apple with a lime.

Now we’ve sorted your frankly ludicrous it’s just like DS argument out, I can embellish my opening gambit with some fairly likely outcomes:

A seriously crest fallen player,
A bruised ego,
General squad disharmony,
A pissed off coach,
Breakdown of former good relationships,
Booing from his own fans,
Lack of focus, effort and desire,
Time on the bench,
Depreciation of asset value,
Suspicious thigh strains,
Not in the right frame of mind to play…

It’s a recipe for disaster, the days of playing hardball with want away players are firmly behind us, and the game in general. They hold all the cards, by pretending all will be fine and dandy on the 1st of February … seriously … w t absolute f are YOU going on about ?

This will end in acrimony or with a HUGE sale, by keeping until the summer we’ll see less and less of the player he was and our % profit will inevitably suffer as a consequence.

Lastly, his statement or his agents statement or whatever … was and is pathetic… why so many people naively allow these so called professionals so much leeway is lost on me… “it’s not his fault … oooohhh poor little players and their nasty agents…”

For me, the game’s almost dead … this latest episode and this willingness of some to accept it and/or forgive the actions of those culpable because he’s a key player … nah, I say cut him loose and focus on players who will be focussed for the remainder of the season… force him to stay and I reckon he’ll be average at best, physically and mentally unavailable at worst.

Hey ho, you know best ;)

Not really. He's been contrary for the sake of it for as long as I can remember (not unlike Husty), and was embarrassing with his ginger black nonsense back when he was a kiddie. Frankly I'm surprised he hasn't grown out of it yet, but there you go. However, Hb&b was and is a total dickhead and the nastiest little prick the board has ever tolerated. Comparisons to Dwayne are not fair at all.
