The player and agent tactics to try and force the club to take less than his true market value is pretty despicable given the club have a open policy and track record of players leaving when valuations have been met. That track record holds up and standing firm this window will not change that or our ability to attract future untapped talent.

Obviously don't won't to lose MC but if his head has been turned and the price is right the club have little to no alternative but to sell.
At some stage we need to hold onto our best player's and progress to gaining a European spot but maybe now isn't the right time.
Shame I'd already penciled in time for a European Tour.

I agree. Anyone can see that is an agency written statement on his social media. The guy is 21 and to me seems a good egg but when you have an entourage of 4 or 5 people in an agency (all quietly desperate for their payday off of you) acting like your best mate and saying you are being held back from your dreams by the big bad club and that you need to take action to make this happen, then I imagine it's very easy to get carried along with it and take the actions they suggest. Complete pack mentality and you are the youngest one in there who ultimately dictates whether all the others get their payday. There's quite a lot of pressure there.

MC isn't blameless. He's not 12. He can make his own decisions but I can see how it happens and, as you say, reject offers, let him have a little sulk and then let him play his football again.

When have we challenged for Europe and sold a top player? I would wait until caicedo goes before getting too upset. Trossard was no longer first choice and was running down his contract. We have a couple of others to come in and take his place, it is not ideal but it isn’t the end of the world.

If caicedo goes and we don’t have someone lined up to replace him quickly (obviously pace will be of the essence but I am thinking like Estupinian replaced cucurella) then worry. Until then I suggest trying to relax. He might stay.

If we were in league one and Arsenal came in for one of our players, I’d be shocked if they didn’t throw a hissy and demand to leave, this is a very different situation to that, this new age of agent led forcing transfers has to stop.

How do teams ever break the monotonous shitfaced boredom of the usual top 6 when they can just come in mid season and steal our best players? It’s a joke.

The only difference is that it is happening to our club not someone elses. We have built success on playing the system, its a bit rich complaining when things don't go our way.

I felt pretty sure he would agitate for a move as soon as Arsenal put a firm offer in, which is why I started the poll - I was interested to see how many people though the same. Not many at all as it turned out.

I think we would have seen Chelsea off in this window but Arsenal, particularly given their lead at the top of the league, felt like a different proposition completely. The chance to be a Premier League winner and all but guaranteed Champions League football next season.

I'd be very surprised if Arsenal are willing to pay what is required. Depends how vital they see him to shore up their total bid.

Still can't see him leaving in January, would be a very poor message to others unless it is a crazy fee, but expect him to be out of the starting 11 for a few weeks after that Tory move.

Exactly that.

And if MC is covered by 4 or 5 big clubs and I was a wealthy successful club owner like TB, I'd be playing Chelsea and Arsenal like a fiddle to drive the price up, then tell MC he's going to Liverpool, Man Utd, Barcelona, Madrid or Newcastle. Not one of the clubs who did nothing but make him sulk in January.

We've said that thrree or 4 times in the last 18 months. I think we're close to having some key components of our success removed, unless there's some unknown Maestro's hanging around in Lancing
