I wonder if it would be a good move - possibly also help to persuadr Caicedo to sign a new contract (not breaking our structure, but as bog a boost as can be within that structure) - if The Albion were to sit down with Caicedo and his agent and tell them that we won't stand in his way when a big club comes in for him, but just to make things clear and to stop any shitehousery, the one place he will not be going to is Chelsea, however much they offer - so just ignore anything coming from Chelsea. There's still the likes of Liverpool, Citeh, United and yes, even bloody Arsenal (not to mention big European teams) that can make your dreams come true if/when you want to move on from Brighton.

Ah; the Chelsea are dickheads clause ! I love it.

Jacob Steinberg of the Guardian reckons we want £75m and are already looking at replacements: https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...act-talks-liverpool-interest?CMP=share_btn_tw

I'm sure we're looking at replacements, but more BS on our valuation from someone who doesn't understand how TB operates - no way it's as simple as £75m and he's gone this window.
"But they are under little pressure to sell and Chelsea, who are considering signing a defensive midfielder on loan, could wait until the summer before trying again to buy the 21-year-old."

In the same article. Are we just choosing to ignore these bits?

Can’t see him going anywhere this window - and would be disappointed if he went in the Summer. Needs to be with us at least another 18months ideally longer - fed up with poaching!

You're right most of the articles written are re-hashed and say the same all contain the stated fact we're not wanting to sell and under no pressure to do so.

Europa League or Champions League is what we need. That will really put the felines amongst the avians. Big ask - but doable.
And a fat pay rise ….

If he signs a new contract again now, you’d think that would guarantee another 18 months minimum - would like to see it.

To be honest I'd be tempted to offer a huge chunk of the Trossard fee to Moises to keep him here and tell him were aiming for regular European football with him leading the charge and see if he's up for it. Only draw back would be the effect on others in the squad and obvious deviation from the model...

I'm not quite sure where to begin....no, I'm lost for words

As our replacement for Bissouma, we need to keep him for a season to bed in another. However, every player has a price, the club would probably be tempted with a £60M bid?

Pretty much agree with that, except that I would say 18 months maximum rather than minimum - but I would be happy with that.

Not ignoring those bits, but we all know TB is under no pressure to sell...

I just don't understand where the figure has come from - £75m has probably just been made up by the journalist

You’ve kind of answered your own question, although I realise you weren’t actually asking a question - either way, we won’t deviate from the model.
I agree, but I'm sure that 'the model' is flexible enough to cover the increased salary costs the higher we finish and more established we become. It is obvious that in order to achieve that, the players needed will be more expensive to maintain and we will need to be looking to keep them a little longer, all leading to bigger contracts.

That is what incremental improvement is all about

They certainly won't be tempted with a £60m bid, not in January and probably not ever.
No chance. The lad is a rare talent, and the club know it. He goes for closer to £100m in my opinion, but not this window.

Two years remaining on a players contract is seen as when a player has the most value. Next summer he will go to a Champions League club that will pay a life changing signing on fee to him and his agent and also increase his current salary multiples times more than we are paying or can pay.

Anyone with an understanding of football knows that that is how it works. In a nutshell, he's off in the summer.
In the meantime we can all enjoy around 20 more games of watching the best midfield we've ever had and are quite likely ever to have.

Let's all just absorb and enjoy the wonderful few months ahead. There's a good chance it's not always going to be this exciting.

Sadly all true. Just hope Uncle Tony wrings truly eye watering sums out of the lucky club that gets him.
