I think there was an article last week comparing us now with Southampton a few years ago. I think they got done pretty bad season after season
To be fair, I think they turned down a massive Liverpool bid for Van Dijk in a January window? Something for us to consider.

It's gutting but it's when he's being whored out by his agent and the press to some of the biggest clubs in Europe there's really very little we can do other than negotiate a deal for the summer with his preferred destination.

That said, I suspect if we can get 70 million up front with no add ons/performance bonuses he'll be gone in the next few days.

Now i've had time to digest this..... what a bellend he and/or his agent is! We have never said he is some sort of prisoner here, we simply dont want to lose an important player mid season (which no team would want) and we wont let him go until the valuation is met (which is hasnt been). It's so obviously we would be more open to letting him go in the summer, even RDZ said in his press conference. And dont give it this 'please let me have this opportunity' bollox, you havent even given us a full season! These agents are filth.

Really? No one is saying that footballers shouldn’t grab a chance at the earliest opportunity, but what really gets every football fan’s goat is the way they go about it. In Caicedo’s case the sheer hypocrisy surrounding this stinks. One minute it’s “Brighton have given me my chance and I will stay with them” blah! blah! , then it’s this mind boggling Instagram post basically shitting on the club and stating I’m out of here.

Aside from all of that what springs to mind is the sheer stupidity of it all. By waiting until the end of the season he, and his agent, could have had any number of clubs actively interested rather than pushing through this sordid request. Oh, and what happens if the club decide he’s not going regardless of the money being offered? A large serving of humble pie and egg on the face I reckon.
Well, Caicedo's reportedly just changed agents, so they're probably doing more to unsettle the player than anyone else is. Instant payday. Ker-ching!

I hate this type of situation as much as all of us, but sadly this is modern day football and money talks.

If we knew we had two good players incoming then we might feel slightly different especially if we get a huge fee, but at the moment there are 4 days left of the window and no definitive news of any such incomings - just more speculation.

I don't think that's on the table, sadly - it's essentially a sale-and-loan-back.

Arsenal want him now to help their push for the title. Come the summer that may have changed for any number of reasons.

This would be incredibly disappointing. However.......

I was sad when we lost Biss. Pissed off when we lost Cucc. Devastated when Potter et al did their thing. Learned enough to be a bit meh about Trossard.
And after all those things, my team are in the strongest position, playing the loveliest football ever.

It might be a bump in the road but somehow Bloom Barber and DeZerbi will find a way to continue moving forward.

I think he won't be allowed to leave in this window.

Club have said no more outgoing transfers.

If he is told to stay until the summer, I hope he does not sulk for the remainder of the season.

Maybe I’m a bit pissed, but what the f*** are some of you on that players are just going to want to carry on playing here while the promise of 3 or 4x their wages and potentially winning a title medal is on the table?

We’re not in a fairytale, it’s just football. It’s been like this for a 100 years.
Good for them although they have signed a contract. Many clubs say we can’t sell now as we have no time to replace the said player. Four months isn’t asking much is it?

“I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club to continue to be successful.”

Since when do players wanting out, stick their two pennies worth on club finances?

I realise that Edu/@agent really wrote this. But still.

It's such a weird statement. Where the hell did he find this agent!?

It's probably why they don't have many clients. Hopefully they will have one less once Moises wakes up in the morning.
