Just far enough away from LDC
But as I pointed out earlier, RDZ had Mac Allister, Gross, Caicedo, Mitoma, March, Estupinan and so on available every single game. Not only does Fab only have a couple of those, their replacements have been unavailable half the time. Give him a fully settled side things would be better and a style would be more apparent
But is this a case of the CIA hiring killers or training them? Some of those players had been struggling to get picked under previous managers. Is it that managers (Potter, rdz) made them look better than they would have done under our current manager?

Better? Almost certainly. But it cost far less to assemble.
Yeah, I know this is a bugbear of yours, it seems that we used to buy a lot of players for not much, allow for a lot of attrition, but end up with some gems. So for every MacA there is a Baluta and Mlakar, for every Mitoma we got a Tau, Sarmiento or Peupion, for every Caicedo there is a Kozlowksi or Moran, for every van Hecke there is a Clarke, Karbownik or Dendoncker. I assume the bigger spending now is about more certainty, Rutter, Minteh, Gruda, Baleba,Verbruggen, Pedro, Wieffer, Kadioglu and so on are more likely to be successful. Less scattergun, more targeted, which our prior success has enabled us to be. The higher price tag certainly doesn't mean they will be better than the gems like MacAllister we unearthed with the prior strategy, but means they are far more likely to become solid PL regulars compared to the previous recruitment as a whole.

A question that can't be answered, which means simply that people do answer it with refetence to their inherent biases. If you prefer RDZ to Fab, you will answer accordingly

It does work both ways though. We don't know how RDZ would have done with this squad and injuries, bit the last half of lasseasonon suggests he might have struggled. But we don't know.

But we don't necessarily need to compare, Fab is not as experienced as RDZ or Potter and should be treated as such. But the relative syrength of the teams, the players, the injuries is important context.

I do not implicitly believe that Fabian will be a successful manager. But nor have I seen anything close to enough to suggest he won't become one. We need more time to find out, sackng after a couple of bad performances might feel nice in isolation but could be very bad in the long run. Keeping him for another six months, even if it's a rubbish six months, will not hurt us in the long run.

If you stand underneath one of the really big ones and use your mobile phone, it fries your brain. Apparently.
I think you’re thinking of pylons. Sounds similar but spelt differently. You really do make these kind of mistakes often!

You were making a point that RDZ had better players. That may well be the case but it's true that the current squad costs much much more than that one did. Hence my comment, if it's not the coach then it was to be the recruitment approach surely? And you're right at the moment we don't know if a different coach will get a better tune out of this squad

I wrote a post about half way up about cost, and another poster summed it up very well. You pay more money not to get a higher ceiling but to get a higher floor. You're paying more to guarantee that they will be a solid PL player and less chance they are a flop.

So Baleba may or may not end up as good as Caicedo, but we're pretty darn certain he won't be as poor as Baluta, Kozlowski or Mlakar.

Nevertheless the recruitment did strike gold with the group of players assembled for RDZ. But there was a huge amount of chance there, it's not necessarily something that's repeatable
