One of the issues we have is having almost too many potential starters in the squad upfront or midfield. I think the manager needs to decide who is likely starter and/or tactical sub so we can either loan out or sell those not likely to figure. For example I like Modern, but clearly the manager is not keen so let him go to a club that wants him.

I agree with others that we need to strengthen the defence in January. In the meantime it was clearly a mistake to put Dunk straight back in when the van Hecke/Igor partnership was going well. Igor's mistake at Leicester was likely a one off that won't happen again.

What about the one home to Saints that led to their equaliser?

Love how 'fans' seem desperate to write off Young players at will after a few average games because they are not ripping the likes of Fulham and Palace to pieces, and want them shifted out.

They have ups and downs, they are very young players, its the policy we largely choose.

Its those lads we spent more on who are a bit more mature we need fit and playing curently.

Ferdi, Weiffer, Oriley. Those 3 will work into the side IMO and the sooner the better.

You have been here long enough to know that this place is full of “ twattishexperts” who know shite all but think they know better than staff who work day in day out with all sorts of players. Their opinion tends to be driven by the herd and what they have seen on MOTD and social media.

Then there are wind up merchants that infest here in their droves

Hence my attempts (sometimes exasperated) at humour over all the bleating.

Given that a couple of oddballs think we currently have the worst government for 50 years, it comes as no surprise that a minority are wishing for a managerial change.

Time we initiated a NSC goldfish award, for the most egregious memory lapses?

I nominate.....sorry.....what was the question?

There are also people that have been watching the game for a long time and can spot when a player is not contributing as much as he should be and it's costing the team. Minteh is young and could and should improve. When Solly is fit then I'm pretty sure most would think he will be ahead of Minteh and then he's on the bench at best. He had a loan spell in Holland which went well but maybe he needs a spell in the championship. There have been plenty of youngsters that didn't make it because they were pushed on to much to soon. Robinson, Gatting and more recently Connolly (the latter's attitude didn't help) all had high expections which were never achieved.

Also, you're quite right, we don't see what goes on in training but that's irrelevant if it's' not replicated at match time when it actually counts.

Personally far from writing him off, but I think we made a rushed decision to keep him in the team after his excellent pre-season. Moving from Eredivisie to a loan year in France or Germany would have been perfect for him I think.

I believe the plan was to bring in Gruda as the new starting RW and either loan out Minteh or keep him as the second choice on the position, but as things developed we kind of just threw Minteh into action and its been a rough situation for him, I'm sure he feels pressure now that he really shouldn't be feeling at this stage.

Not sure about the "better than the rest" because there could/should be another golden goose or two in that lot, but I agree Gruda has everything it takes. I said in another thread that I expect him to be a starter at the end of the season. He's more polished than the others we brought in.
Goodness me, I agree with you again…. 😧

The raw player that arrived is being molded into a top quality Premier League player.

He's looking better and better as the season goes on.

Very dangerous player - got strength, speed, good on the ball - he can shoot, he can cross. Even tracks back and does a job defensively.

If he continues to improve like this, he'll become one of the most lethal wingers in the world.

The cross for the 2nd was a thing of beauty. He's done that swirling sand wedge inswinger with the left before. It's impossible to defend.

Best performance for us so far by a mile today, much improved in attack and defence.

A marked improvement in his work rate in the last couple of weeks, he looks in his element at the moment.
The one thing I’ve never questioned about him is his work rate. Every time I’ve seen him he’s worked really hard. Not always effectively as he’s been so raw, but he’s worked hard.

I’m really happy to see it’s leading to better output now as there’s a really talented player in there.

His best game today.... and some brilliant defensive tackles

Best game so far. Veltman could have gone on a trip to Bahamas instead of playing, Minteh was right back, right midfielder and right winger all in one.

Expect more ups and downs from him but in the long run a player with that work rate will have plenty of success.
