Its a shame that football has come to that really...

It hasn't, it's just that Leeds and Millwall fans seem to want to carry on acting like animals, because they seem to believe that's part of their club. It's ridiculous, I know a few Millwall fans and they're good blokes, I met a few Leeds fans before our game in January, they were fine aswell. But there are some "fans" who seem to think that because they had reputations in the 70s and 80s, that they have to carry it on. It's sad, and pathetic. But that's how it's always going to be, especially in Millwall's case because they need some kind of identity to avoid being just another nothing club from London.

I Agree but im pretty sure they could of done this a different way (ie, Coach all fans down giving them tickets while on the coach and dropping them off right outside the stadium in a secure area where the fans cant clash
I Have never had trouble with any leeds fans I actually thought they were a good lot up at elland road had a good bit of banter in one of the pubs, wheras at Milwall this season we had these Asbo teenagers throwing stones and bottles at us on the way back to the car
Also, what I meant by its a shame its come to this is that the sheer amount of policing needed nowadays and the fact that because some fans are yobs all fans are treated like criminals in other cities just because of that 0.01% who deliberately go to cause rucks and beat people up.

Thats discraceful what sort of person would bring that to a football match!:glare:

Well apart from somebody supporting/watching Galatasaray, there surely isn't any excuse. What the f*** were the stewards & Police doing letting them carry on like that? Even if those morons were technically doing nothing against the law (incitement to riot?), then the club should've had 'em removed & banned for life? Dreadful. :nono:

Amazing how the stewards did NOTHING
I Just cant fatham that they would let them take a flag like that into the ground its a total shambles, were there even any stewards in the Milwall end seen as people can get away with running on the pitch and holding flags like that up they quite obviously were not doing there job properly
It really is revolting that people can do things like this WITHOUT getting any punishment

btw did we ever get a reason why the police told the ref the penalties had to be taken at the Luton end?

Several times, in fact. It was due to safety concerns, whenever a team wins penalties it's natural for everyone toward that goal to the keeper or whoever has taken it. It would have meant the Luton fans charging at the Brighton fans, and the police couldn't guarantee being able to keep us safe, so they took the penalties at the other end. Obviously, they came over to us anyway.... but that's neither here nor there.

Oddly, the penalties in the Shrewsbury vs Bury match earlier were taken in front of the visiting Shrews fans, on the advice of the police.

Gone are the days when it was decided by tossing a coin. Now the Police get to have a deciding factor in football games. What next penalties in normal time having to be taken at the other end?

poor little Leeds. You dont remember them going on the rampage in Brighton then. You dont remember them booting down the east fence and pouring over in their hundreds to offer out the north stand. Where were the stewards!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Dreadful. So what, its f***ing football not the Royal Opera House. Why be so grassy too, all this discussing what you could be charged with, and wanting people banned for life for taking a flag to wind up scumbags who can dish it out perfectly well?

I am not being funny mate but people like you contribute as much to footballs sterility as Obramovich or Sky. The same people who hide their snobbery against their own people very poorly, and would be wanking all over hot house nasty atmospheres on the continent if they paid a game a visit on their easyjet minibreak weekend with their vegetarian girlfriend, that they could bore all their friends in the office shitless about when they got home.

How much is a jar of face paint nowadays?

That goes without saying, some clubs however and Millwall and Leeds are both included in this, have more then their fair share.

Hang on a sec. Yes it's f***ing disgraceful but there were Brighton fans singing about Instanbul last time we were up there AND worst still regular posters on this board bragging about it. So before you lot get on your high horse just remember every club has their fair share of wankers.

do they? or is that just a common misconception partly due to the past decades Hooliganism on Millwalls part?

To be honest, mr Legend, I don't really agree that it's a bad thing, I would have preferred to see them taken directly in front of me, but safety has to come first and considering what did happen, I think they got it right.

Also, on the point of "every club have mindless idiots supporting them", absolutely spot on. I was at a game in december where a group of Albion fans were singing songs of Virgo in the 120th and chanting about the Millennium stadium, which is all fine and well when it's banter and meant jokingly. But that's not what was happening with these fans, they were aggresive and argumentative, I was thoroughly embarrased to be associated with them. But there's nothing you can do about it, everyone knows that Brighton fans are, on the whole, a brilliant group of people and barely any trouble at all.
Millwall and Leeds fans have grown up with the perception that they're scum, so they've accepted it as their club's identity, and they've taken it upon themselves to continue the sad, pathetic tradition.

I would say that you were equally as guilty of accepting 'identities' and 'perceptions' as anyone.
