BBC News - Chuck Yeager: First pilot to fly supersonic dies aged 97
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-55225903

RIP

I was watching a cracking little documentary about Florence Lowe 'Pancho' Barnes a week or so back. Along with many. many other achievements, she ran 'The Happy Bottom Riding Club' the Mojave Desert bar frequented by all the test pilots in the 40s and early 50s. Chuck Yeager popped up in the film and I ended up having a bit of a read up on his life, pretty spectacular. Finding out that he was still alive at 97 put a smile on my face. RIP.

The Pancho Barnes documentary is on Prime and well worth a look.

Thanks for the heads up for tonight's programme.
Our son lives next to RAF Lossiemouth and we love watching the Typhoons taking off and landing when we go to visit.
In actual fact I think my wife enjoys it more than me. We're able to sit about 50 metres from the end of the runway with only a chest high wooden fence between us.

The Draken is one of the loudest planes, especially by fighter standards, I've ever heard.

I believe it was the first supersonic aircraft to come into service anywhere in Europe.

RIAT cancelled for another year
Roll on 2022

Bollox!!!!!!!

I guess it was inevitable unfortunately, trying to organise bring in displays from abroad along with a large crowd to deal with.

Rolling my FRIAT membership to 2022, lets hope that's a show to make up for the lost years.
