Brighton factually.....
What country drops leaflets from the sky, sends out text messages & announces for civilians to leave. Only Israel.
Then bombs them as they leave, and will no doubt occupy the Gaza Strip and before you know it, never letting them back, it’s another land grab.

Only Israel.

Spot on and shalom!

I’m an Ashkenazi Jew (secular) and definitely not a Zionist in any extreme sense at all but do self-identify with Israel as ‘home of the Jews’ in a cultural/spiritual sense because of an emotional attachment to the Judaistic narrative that’s inextricably linked to my self-identity. It’s therefore gut wrenching for me to see such a violent escalation to Palestinian question for both Jews and Palestinians. I did cover ‘Zionism’ about 4 or 5 days ago on this thread with links to different aspects and ideologies it embraces in particular the Religious Zionistic elements of Netanyah’s Government- I’m probably only one of two Jewish people that have contributed to this thread - (or there’s been more that haven’t said anything- it would be interesting to know - I think people tend to skip past posts a lot of the time , especially when they are as numerous and long as mine are at times!
Well you can add me to being Jewish & very proud to be so as well 😊

….to bomb children/families after strike hits fleeing convoy on Gaza 'safe' route!!

I was disgusted by Hamas’ abomination of an attack last weekend but I’m equally disgusted by the now equally terrorist state of Israel doing exactly the same thing since!

🤬
@Steve Foster should be ashamed. If he is a councillor I can only hope people are witness to his views and next election he gets thrown out.

As a proud Jewish person, what are your thoughts on those who make offensive 'jokes' about other religions?

I'm by no means a theology expert, so I'd be very interested in your view on how such behaviour aligns, or not, with Jewish values.

And so you should be, and to make this absolutely clear, my fury is all about the state of Israel proving itself to be no different to the terrorist organisation Hamas!!
The emoji at the end of his post says it all for me.It's pathetic in the true meaning.

There's little hope in the conflicts of this world without some compassion to others. So sad.

Well ‘shalom’ to you too - but the atrocities being carried out by Natanyahu‘s government on the Palestinian people make me feel I couldn’t be any less proud.

Did you know ‘Israel’ also mean’s ‘one who struggles with God’. - If I were a Judaist, I would be thinking Israel must be having a really big fcuking struggle with God right now and vice versa ….

And btw - this feels like trolling from you tbh and a deliberate attempt to discredit the few Jewish people on this thread that have been very vocal in their support for the Palestinians - Apologies if thats not the case, but why else would you come on to this thread and try and inflame anger with your extreme bias comments then undermine other Jewish contributors by attributing your POV to being Jewish! - I honestly dont get where you are coming from …? the majority of Jews the world over would have more compassion and understanding than you seem to show ….🤷‍♂️

I hear you! Just don’t want the antisemitic card being played here as it’s absolutely nothing to do with that!

Very weird LBTS went at same time SF appears playing the absolute same tune! So bloody sad that otherwise educated people cannot see the abhorrence they are supporting!!

Joan Rivers (Jewish), Jacky Mason (Jewish) performed this so well (seen them both). Once you have cast your non PC jokes about everyone - you can’t be offended! It’s only offensive if you label all jokes to one race/creed etc imo

Don’t worry - it was obvious to me that emoji also was a deliberate jibe at me - I was attacked on page 2 or 3 of this thread by LbtS several times for criticising Israel‘s treatment of the Palestinian people .

I promise you, most sensible people know what anti-semitism is and you were no where near it 🙂

Shabbat Shalom

Israeli opinion is as widespread & diverse as the UK. Have you lived/spent time in Israel? Do you have family living in Israel?
At least in Israel all views are recognised/tolerated like here unlike the Palestinian’s lives.
They need rid of Hamas. Israel needs rid of Hamas.
USA will allow Israel to do the job.

“The job” being another holocaust as that is what it will take? The USA might but I can assure you the civilised world will not stand by and let that happen again!!

Good point.

South Park, for example, were absolutely brilliant at joking about everything, and punching up.

As opposed to, say, picking something completely at random, concentrating on Islamophobic jokes and punching down at people with mental illness.

The Israeli forces are on a completely different different ethical wavelength to Hamas & you know this.
Can you explain how bombing a supposedly safe evacuation route for Palestinians, killing seventy people (including women and children) shows the IDF has a different ethical wavelength?

Hamas and the IDF are both committing atrocities to innocent civilians, and therefore they should both be held responsible for their unethical acts of violence - or more so, those in power conducting these attacks.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Opinion is widespread, so is the level to which Jews (or any other follower of the Monotheistic religions, Islam and Christianty) live up to theological ideals of their own teachings.

And your views/lexicon has bordered on Islamophobia at times - maybe it’s not intentional, but words matter - that’s not tolerated in the UK, let alone on NSC - That’s why @Frutos asked you whether that was consistent with Jewish theology - it isn’t.

From the Torah/OT

”You shall not wrong a stranger (foreigner), or oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt”

”You shall not oppress a stranger, since you yourselves know the feelings of a stranger, since you yourselves were strangers in the land of Egypt “

This clearly makes xenophobia impermissible and Islamophobia definitely falls under that rubric.

Have you seen how the IDF treat Palestinians on a day to day basis? I won't start posting videos but cursory research will show them exhibiting degrading and violent treatment on a daily basis. They are also prone to murder by sniper (including 22 journalists).

This is anecdotal of course but I met members of post IDF trained Israeli travellers at a party in South America year ago. They were singing songs and telling jokes about killing Palestinians. They will be indoctrinated into hating them as part of the training. It follows as it makes it much easier to oppress and kill someone when you are brainwashed to see them as a lesser being.
IDF is a massive organisation which will include a number of bellends who will think it's big to sing songs. The vast majority are reservists who will be normal people. However, even nice normal people will react badly under pressure i.e. every time they walk a street are they going to be shot, bombed etc. Any British soldier will tell you that fighting such as the Falklands was 'easier' on the mind than walking the streets of Belfast in the 1980s...
