Didn't he also refuse to play for England B a few years back? I seem to remember Stuart Pearce seething about it...
His Billy Big Bollox attitude seems to be quite deeply ingrained.

The bloke cant read a comic let alone a f***ing football match. Right backs go Walker Johnson Kelly Jones then Richards.

He will always be at fault for a goal the man is a liability.

Hahaha kelly called up for England to replace Cahill! f***ing laughing stock!

Richards should be our main right back! Absolute animal! Just what England needs!

My old man thinks that Kelly will be one of Englands top defenders at the Euros. Massive Liverpool fan so he may be biased but frankly I wouldnt want Micah Richards anywhere near my team.

What has Micah Richards done to merit being ignored by Capello and Hodgson? He can play at right back or central defence so would be an ideal squad member but now even Martin Kelly is preferred to him, he must have done something evil!

Errr he has made it quite clear he is not interested in playing for England. Quite bizarre to think he is being ignored. Have you been residing on mars for the past year?

I don't know this for sure, but there are a couple of players who socialise in the same circle as Micah, who were VERY HAPPY to be available for a lads holiday to Marbella, rather than scrapping into the England Squad and have to train for nothing more than a place on the bench. I can only assume that Micah's attitude is the problem, as it's not just one manager that chooses to exclude him.

There is more to this than meets the eye.

A man city STH friend of mine reckons he has a problem with a 'social' substance and has more than one visit to rehab. Always thought he was talking bollocks and just pretending to be ITK .... Wondering now if there is any truth in it

Micah does park his car in some run down areas of town quite often.

Although I don't agree with him refusing to be on standby, after the season he has had and to still not get picked he must have been gutted. Martin Kelly, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing haven't done enough to deserve a place. My choice would be Richards, Carrick and Johnson, don't get me wrong the other three are great players and there time will come just shouldnt be in this tournement.

Was wondering the same about Adam Johnson. He'd be in every team of mine !!!!

I think exactly the same, both would be in my starting line up, in the squad at least!! I really couldn't give a fook how we do, if losing all 3 got rid of Hodgson I'd go for that but unfortunately we wont be so lucky...

Remember when Charlie George was selected for England B? I believe his reply was "C is for Charlie, C is for Class and I ain't playing for no f***ing B team".
He never played for the A team either after that, and rightly so!

He may have refused to be on stand-by but he didn't "make it quite clear" that he wasn't interested in playing for England before the Euro squad or to Capello. The "Bizarre" and "Mars" quotes are unnecessary.

I have immense sympathy for MR. He was called by Stuart Pearce (Hodgson called all other players to tell them if they were in/out of the England squad) who told him he would not be in the squad. Pearce later called him (Supposedly 3-4 hours later) to ask him if he'd like to be on stand-by. Richards spoke to his father and later called Pearce back and told him he was too devastated to be on stand-by.

I have no issue with that. Hodgson should have called him himself.

On an unrelated note, I don't blame Hodgson for this apparent selection 'mess' we are in. The FA stitched him up Royally when they dodged the John Terry issue and by only giving him a month before the tournament begins. Him picking Liverpool players (Whom he will know) is natural in this situation, and IMHO will suit England better.

As I understood it he had stated that his club football was more important. I also believed that although he did not refuse England he had very much taken a back seat. Maybe It was me on a different planet then. Or just brainwashed by the evil talk shite!

I can't blame Richards for not wanting to be on standby, he's twice the player Johnson is at RB and can also play CB, he should have walked into the squad.
