I don't like players refusing to be on stand-by but there must have been a reason why Capello didn't pick him and why he wasn't included in the original Euro squad. I like Kyle Walker but Glen Johnson's defensive qualities aren't as good and Smalling and Jones who are both more central defenders were also used at right back in front of Richards (who did play 29 times for City this season).

Being on stand-by is better than not having a look in to play in the Euros at all - other players would of loved to be in his position !!! Rather have a player that doesnt think he is too good to be a standby, than a player who thinks hes the dogs bollocks.

It should be the highlight of any footballers career to have the opportunity to play for their country, if it means being on the standby list the so be it, it's about your country not your ego

Micah Richards is without doubt a shoo in to the national team IF HE SORTS HIS HEAD OUT

A team is a team and it needs to work as a team so there is no place for players who think they are bigger than the team, not an advert for them to find a better club. Micah therefore should act like a team player and be happy that he is on standby, especially with the high chance of being picked in the end. If he doesnt want it then hes not a team player and therefore not a player for England. And if that means we fall short because we had to pick a worse player then so be it because any manager can tell you that having a billy big jobs in the team is guaranteed to mess up your morale and therefore your chances. Quite honestly if we fall short because we dont have the righ player it is MICAHs fault for not making himself available and going off in a strop. There is no place in professional football for players who take the ball away when they dont get their own way. Why? Because its PROFESSIONAL football, not kicking in the park.
