McGhee says we need to buy a striker

McGhee on sky sports today said the club HAVE to sign a decent striker if we want to stay up. How many of us could have told him that weeks ago?

Someone who is good in the air would be a start judging by the amount of crosses that went straight across the box last night.

Any ideas?

I hate Mooney, but he would have been ideal.

What's funny?

He's a goon of the highest order. Has a pumped up opinion of himself and while he does score goals in the lower leagues has never made in the top two divisions.

I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole - he has serious attitude baggage that he carries around with him.

I thought everyone knew this - hence the laughter - I thought you were joking

I really think he could do a job for us. No shit. He's tall and pacey and causes problems.

Perhaps for a week or two. But then his arrogance would get in the way and he would want to be off to a Premiership club.

No way

Want any on loan?

We've got millions at the moment...

Kitson - no chance (first team)

Forster - no chance (first team)

Goater - expensive but could be a good idea if you want a proven goalscorer.

Owusu - good player, better than Goater IMO - pacey and good in the air.

Morgan - superb skills, good touch, finishing not bad but young and should be a star to come

Savage - comedy player but defenders hate him - á la Rougier

A big lump of a striker will get his hea don plenty of those currie crosses. There were some really good crosses form him last night that a decent big guy up fornt would have buried.

Trevor Benjamin won't get that many games this season... I know he's played a couple recently but as soon as the rest of the Leicester strikers come back, he won't get a look in.

Whoever we get we have to try and make it a long term loan deal. The last thing we need is to get a good player in for a month, score a couple of goals, and then he buggers off back again and we are back to square one. We missed out on quite a few decent experienced players during the summer break who could have done a job for us. Take Gillingham for example - they signed Iwan Roberts and Darren Byfield - two decent strikers with a proven record. I bet they end up with 25+ goals between them by the end of the season and that could make the difference between them staying up or getting relegated.

I would love to see Benjiman return i think he is just what we are looking for...after his loan spell last season he said he loved the club and wouldnt rule out a permanent move if we got in the 1st div. well here we are benj come join us...Under a year left on his contract but on 17 k aweek think we would have to take over his contract or buy him out of it either way its gonna cost...so i doubt it will happen

At £17K a week it would never happen.
I don't think he was worth a quarter of that.

Darius Henderson could head a ball and hes been loaned out to Swindon and scoring a few.

We need an experienced player a bit like Deon Dublin, someone like that. Experienced and knows the game, will take pressure off Knight and bring other players in to the game. Also need someone who can hold the ball up and relieve a bit of pressure from the defence.

Neil Shipperley anyone?
