I'm pretty bloody sure he was in the squad, on the bench.
Albion: (3-5-2) Kuipers; Hinshelwood, Cullip, Butters; Reid, Oatway, Carpenter, Nicolas, Harding; Claridge (Currie 89), Virgo. Subs not used: Roberts (Gk), Mayo, Knight, Hammond.

You're right, he was on the bench but MM was slated for dropping him all the same.

The Argus coverage that was posted every day on NSC/NSP in the wake of Burnley with long threads attached. But I guess you missed that too.

Didn't really need to wait until the Monday papers to find out what happened. :jester:

Neither did anyone else as it was the main subject of the post-match phone-in :jester: But OK, Mr 11,000 posts, you didn't read much of NSC/NSP that week, fair enough.

I suspect that most of the Knight supporters are under 25 and most of the McGhee supporters are over 25.
Youngsters think it is ok to have a strop and tantrum and ignore the manager.

Im 18 and think Leon is in the wrong. He will be back for Palace and be looking to prove a point to MM.

Again, when Steve is wrong, Steve changes the subject.

They both want their arses kicked. MM should not be running off to the press about this, it should have been kept in the club. It's gone to the BBC website now, which is not what we want to be seeing. There should have been a fine, and everyone should have got on with it - it makes MM look petulant for demanding an apology, and it makes Leon look silly for throwing a tantrum. If they had both acted like adults, this would have been finished, not made the club look like frigging amateurs.

According to the Arsegas, he has apologised now. Pathetic, looks like a bloody nursery school argument. He had already apologised to his team mates, which MM was unaware of! Manager with his finger on the pulse, obviously.

I'm a big fan of leon, I personally think he is the best footballer at the club, but, he has to recognise he is part of a team. MM is responsible for the whole team not just one player.

Given that leon has now apologised and had a big heart to heart with Mcghee when the rest of the team had the day off, I think MM's stance will be vindicated. We are all on the same side here, we all went leon to be banging the ball in the back of the net, but if his attitude is not right then that is less likely.

As frustrated as I am sure Leon is, there is simply no place in this squad for self indulgent sulking, and MM was right to put a a stop to it straight away. I think its refereshing that MM was willing to act quickly, assert his authority and not allow things to fester. If anyone else is thinking of stepping out of line they know they'll be out of the team. I believe this is a good thing.

Now I just hope that Leon will return fired up ready to put Palace to the sword, and we can all get back to dreaming of the playoffs in our own fickle way.

I think MMs stance was poor over this. If I managed any of my people by isolating them ("he's not coming on the coach"), and running them down to every possible outlet (multiple media stories), I would have my arse kicked from here to traffic duty in downtown Basra. I would not have tolerated Leon's behaviour, but publicising the whole sorry debacle is a bad way of doing things. Internal disciplinary procedures are supposed to be just that, not a public way of slagging your players. How would MM have taken it if Leon had done the same and dragged his story around the papers?

He wasn't at Stoke either according to the BBC teamlist, despite what some people seem to think!
