Yes, on whether a result was pleasing or not - not on whether a detailed tactical aspect of the game worked or not! You can only judge those by actually watching the game.

Which has got nothing to do with Alex Revell winning headers against smaller full backs on the wing. I can't comment on weather he should be there or not as I haven't been yet this season. I'm merely pointing out that you're answer is wrong, no player is put out wide to win headers, it just doesn't happen.
:lolol: :lolol: Brilliant, just about sums it up.

"I haven't seen a ball kicked but I know that, despite 7/9 points in the bag, McGhee is f***ing it up." Choice.

What is it with some people on here? If I hadn't watched a game I wouldn't dream of passing an opinion on whether something worked tactically or not during a game :nono:

Billy, I have seen the games and my view is that playing him out wide has been a big success and a part in how we've unsettled the opposition
Like I said, I'm not commenting on weather he played well in that position, if you think he's done well out there then that's fair enough, but I don't need to see a game to know that he wasn't put on the wing to win headers against small fullbacks like you keep saying. If you'd said outpaced and outmuscled fullbacks then you may have a point, but you didn't. Personally I'd still rather have that kind of player in the middle, but you can't argue with 7 out of 9.

Revell against any teams midget (either on the right or left) and lumping it up to him is a tactic which has worked to date and will more than likely work if Padula is playing for Forest on Saturday. This is, however, one dimensional and easy enough to counteract if a manager does his home work. My main criticism of Revell on Sat was that when Hart was not in the middle he stayed out wide and was not making any runs into the centre. As a result we didn’t have players hanging of the last defender.

Nothing new really – We still need a target man as this isn’t Revell’s strength (and a left back but that’s another argument)

I don't watch Parliamentary action for 18 hours a day during their lengthy seasons, but still i have opinions and judgements on decisions made by people miles from my home. I can read and think and see sometimes.
To say "You don't know." is just the same sort of thing you seem to receive a lot of on here. Its unpleasant.

Reading my answer and then what you have twisted it into just about sums you up.

:thud:

This is McGhee's actual words: "We felt Alex would be better suited against their (Rotherham's) leftback. We felt Alex could get a lot of joy in the air, which he did."

Sorry if this a bit unpleasant, but that parallel is total shit

But I guess I should qualify that remark with an explanation that takes up your parallel. You don't have to watch the Parliamentary Channel to know whether you like the Tories or Labour or not, or whether you like their policies or not. But YOU WOULD have to watch it to know whether the performance of a particular junior minister was effective at the despatch box in laying out a case for the policy or answering criticisms of it.

Plenty of seats available at the new expanded Withdean and some enjoyable football being played at the moment too. I'd recommend it.

:)

I don't like the idea, having watched football for a couple of decades, of putting a big player on the wing to tower over full-backs. Ideally, wide players have pace and fitting delivery with intense and unpummelled skill at their feet. I'm rarely comfortable with dim-witted players ordered toward something they fail to understand. I struggle to see the hardening ingredients to randomly flailing recipes. All seems damp and unflavoured.

Is that a reasonable comment to make, or should i simply quote something unartistic from a man i barely trust?
I don't know the best, like some, but my mind is not an endlessly comical spillage. Although it can seem that way.

Utterly reasonable, even though I had to read it twice, but it is worth pointing out that we had a small, quick fella on the other wing in either Dean Cox or Jake Robinson - whether they live up to your criteria of pace and unpummelled skill I don't know, but I hope so :)

If that's what the man said then fair enough, mabye I'm wrong. I would still say that, that tactic will get found out very easily. The problem with lumping balls to the wing is that there's only one option, you have to play the nod down inside, or hold it and play the pass inside, it's obvious where the next pass is going and easy to defend. That is why teams don't do it, and after hearing the reports of good passing football i'm still struggling to believe that we're playing like that. Hopefully I'll be allowed to pass comment when I've seen this with my own eyes at Forest.

Ooooh get you :lolol:

I agree the tactic might be found out - but that's what tactics are, you refine and change them from game to game. Up until now, the idea has done well for us and remains in our armoury to use against certain opponents who we analyse as being vulnerable to it.

MAGOO JUST GO NOW!!!!!!

Make your mind up. Or at least stop making it so obvious that you're just putting the answer you think will "fit in" with the consensus of the thread..

McGhee in for me, but I've never called for him to leave.

Looking at the game in the cold light of day, I suppose it became obvious as the second half went on that their midfiled were running through us and at that point ( approx 10 minutes into the second half) I would have moved garry hart back into midfield ( or Reid and switched Harty to fullback) to put 4 across the midfield to shut down the space. As I said before being the first game I have seen, I thought the overall first 20 minutes were good, with flowing movement and slick passing - once we went 2 - o up I thought we lost our way and I am not keen on Revell playing out wide.

Having said all that, you cant argue with 7 points from 9 and certainly MM is looking for his best X1, it will be interesting when Stokes goes back to see who he will put in his place as this is the spot we have struggled with for some time.

The stuff about Henderson on here is just daft!!!
