IN: the only thing he is doing wrong is not being able to attract players like coppell or taylor could. maybe its because hes a fat scottish wanker. but football-wise (which is what i beleive we should base this on) he is doing a good job with an average squad, especially without ckr who is acting like a little brat.

We never attracted many players to League One or below of a higher standard than we already had....
Apart from the odd punt ie Zamora. How many Zamora's are on the market nowadays???

Good start under Wilkins!!!!

Ha ha.

It seems in the parallel universe of Uncle Buck, history took a different course over the summer :D

What is 6ft 3 in man doing playing wide on the right insteads of down the middle to win headers?

Er, to win headers on the right against smaller defenders? Not fecking rocket science.

BensGrandad said:
When Loft came on who is left footed why didnt they switch Cox over to the right?

Because Cox was playing excellently on the left, as he did at Rotherham. Why disrupt that?

BensGrandad said:
Why, in fact bring on Loft at all at that stage of the game we needed a defender he could have brought on Lowe and moved Reid to defensive right midfield with 3 central defenders.

El Abd has been playing well up to the fourth minute of injury time. 20-20 hindsight from you to say he should have been moved!

BensGrandad said:
As early as the 48th minute it was obvious that we needed somebody, possibly Cox to release the ball to and run thus relieving the defence of the constant pressure that they bought upon themselves by lumping the ball out and it coming straight back.

I probably would go along with you on this, but 48th minutes is silly, why not just replace at half-time? ??? I would have liked to have seen Cox on at about 60 minutes, but then I thought we should have started with him in the first place.

Bags of experience at this level, knows how to get out of this division. Questions marks are more over his ability to sustain performance in the division above, particuarly in reference to the well known out of position policy.

For this season at least, McGhee in.

I was beginning to give up on McGhee but am pleased to say that I never did lose faith in him*. He's worked hard in pre-season and the side looks capable of competing well in this division - a play-off berth cannot be ruled out if we can play like this for the rest of the season.

*Mind you, I kept the faith with Sven til (almost) the end and he turned out to be an utter gimp.

Its funny how over the summer there were alot of people on here saying that McGhee has to go now and we will finish mid-table at best, with alot of people tipping us for relegation.

All of a sudden, we get 7 points from a possible 9 and theres no-one saying hes got to go now and "i'll give him till xmas".

I still think he is the best manager that Brighton could get at the moment and i think hes doing a good job with the situation that hes got.

Like I said the last time you came up with this, you don't need to win headers on the wings. If you are playing high balls out to your wingers then something is going wrong, what can you possibly gain from it?

How about 7 points from 9?

Which has got nothing to do with Alex Revell winning headers against smaller full backs on the wing. I can't comment on weather he should be there or not as I haven't been yet this season. I'm merely pointing out that you're answer is wrong, no player is put out wide to win headers, it just doesn't happen.

Hold on.

You haven't been this season, yet feel yourself competent to say that the possession we've gained and pressure we've put on sides through Revell outjumping and outmuscling fullbacks has nothing to do with our success?

What is it with some people on here? If I hadn't watched a game I wouldn't dream of passing an opinion on whether something worked tactically or not during a game :nono:

Billy, I have seen the games and my view is that playing him out wide has been a big success and a part in how we've unsettled the opposition.

Jeez, what a closed mind.
