Given that it was produced by an artist hired by the McCanns, I'd say it is a device to divert public attention away from the McCann's being the main suspects, and back to the idea that Maddie was abducted by a stranger.

erm, if you had being paying attention, that is now the theory the Portugese police are officially following, having fired the previous lead investigater who had a track record of assuming parental murder to the point of fitting up suspects. Now, we still dont have a clue what the hell happend, but the murder theories are looking a lot less credible than the abduction theory.

irrespective of this....due to incompetance somewhere, the police are no nearer knowing what happened to maddie, therefore the way papers sell stories is to make up stories demonising parents who are doing their level best to keep the mystery of their daughters dissapearance in the public eye.....Ok the public are bored with it, that is the nature of todays throw away society. i would rather leave the demonising of these people until we know for a FACT that they had something to do with her dissapearance......but I seem to be in a minority.

actually i think the press have been reasonably fair, they've just loved the amount of column inches its given them, especially over the quiet summer. I recall reading one paper recently that had on the same page a hostile article saying how a computer model could prove they killed Madeline and move the body by car to the Church in the time available and another sympathetic article saying how difficult it was for them and the family. the papers seem to be hedging their bets.

If that were true then why are the McCanns still official suspects? And if the artists impression were so vital then why have the police not released something similar before? And please spare me the patronising put downs, it makes you look like a Daily Express reading simpleton.

Chappers, I am sure people thought it would not be used to pay for their
£ 350000 mortgage in a huge house whilst they earn £ 120000 pa between them, if they did miss 2 payments tou would think they would have savings or a contigency plan to pay these or negotiate something with the lender rathe than dip into the fund, a huge PR disaster at best and they should refund the money TODAY from their personal funds if I were them , but it does not suprise me of this couple
