Quite clearly a PR stunt to stop everyone going mental that we'd not signed anyone

It’s looking that way. I can’t help thinking the total sum for ‘development’ signings we’ve bought could been spent on decent first eleven players instead. We’ve spent tens of millions on players to rot in Lancing, or play elsewhere.

Something is indeed strange here.

Lamptey not making the bench is one thing. He is still a very raw talent, and has not played much senior football.

But Alexis... has been playing top level South American football and has represented Argentina. Why on earth would he not even make the bench yet? It’s an easy way to lift the team and the fans.

Is it possible there’s more to this.

Did we bring him back to sell him?

Not a clue, nothing makes sense about the situation. But i do know Potter was desperate for his return which makes it even more weird.

Given that he is capable of scoring from outside the box, you would have thought that today was crying out for him to be introduced from the bench at least given most of shots were from distance.

When was the last time GP played Alzate in his correct position? I honestly can’t remember! On the odd occasion he starts him he plays him at right back!

If GP actually played one of his best midfielders in his correct position we may not be in the position we are now in!

But he’s not out player of the season, right?

Why on earth does GP think he’s not match fit, needs time to adjust etc. FFS, when will Brighton managers buy players to actually put straight into the team? You know, that old tried and tested method used by EVERY F UCKING OTHER CLUB in the top four divisions? Good enough for Boca? Well, clearly you need to learn the Brighton Way first - here, take 18months off first to adjust, preferably in a foreign league. Won the Balon D’or? Here you go, play tomorrow night in the Sussex Senior Cup first and let’s see how you get on. Most exciting prospect in Chelsea under 21s? I’ll see if we can squeeze you into the annual REMF match as a ringer...

Strewth, this buy and loan out 43 players strategy is a huge success isn’t it? Meanwhile every other club buys 11 quality ones and sticks them in what’s called the 1st team. And plays them every week. Still, what do they know? We’re building for the future*

*includes Championship and lower division football.

Could not have summed it up better and we are building ourselves a reputation as a place where promising in form players come to have their confidence sapped out of them.

I don’t have a problem with the loan method on the hopes the club in earths some talent for the future
But the club needs to also consider the hear and now. No point having the best academy teams and players if your 1st 11 can’t compete. If your in league 1 then you won’t be attracting the best kids here anyway as they will want to be associated to PL clubs
As for Mcallister he has to be fit enough for a place in the squad at least. I know the Argentine league isn’t played at same pace but he has been playing for a top club as well as with Argentina
Lamptey we don’t even have that excuse Lampard for him on v arsenal and he did well helped turn that game in their favour. With all our RB struggles the kid whose good enough for Chelsea must surely be good enough for us at the moment

Chelsea fan I know was gutted to see him leave and says he's now our best player

Yet another thread about a player who wasn't playing but would have won us the match. Same after every match with just the name of the missing players changed. Such an easy gig being an armchair manager.

Eh. Have you actually read the thread? Literally no one here is saying that.

More like bafflement as to how the guy doesn’t even make the bench in 2 games. A completely legitimate question.

What if, just saying like, Potter did not ask for MacAllister, did not feel he needed or wanted him at this point in time, and does not as Head Coach want to feel as though he is being manipulated by another senior person in the club who might think they can influence and pick the team for Potter, and therefore to make a statement Potter deliberately leaves out MacAllister, causing significant friction between himself and the other senior person who influences football matters, and what if that senior person, who you would expect to be at the heart of home matchday events did watch the game in the stadium yesterday, but did not enter the boardroom as is custom, just saying like...

Ashworth? That scenario would make a lot of sense.

Tony Bloom says he speaks to Potter multiple times per week. Don’t you think Potter would have told him at some point he doesn’t want / need Mac Allister? Or did Bloom over rule Potter too? In which case Potter is better off elsewhere

Nice conspiracy but Potter knew Ashworth was here when he joined and knew he was here when he signed his extension.

I would argue that most of our midfield wasn’t match fit yesterday
