Dick Knight states that contracts will be dependent on which league we are in - I thought that last time we were in this division, one of the reasons we didn't invest heavily in the squad was that it was actually costing us more to play in the higher league regardless of wages due to policing costs etc..

Am I talking absolute bollocks or was this not the case?

Shoreham of course
As much as it is good to have two very good keepers, I wonder if it is costing us more to have them both.
I think Watson, Jones, Hart, Beck will be looking for another club

That was relevant at THAT time. Now is now and may not be the same I fear.

roberts knight and cullip thought hammond had another year to run?

i think knight should step if we offered oatway a new contract,
he has done well but we could do better with his wages

Like WHO EXACTLY???

Why is there always the same old GET rid of oatway quotes everytime his contract is up?

Why not get rid of leon Knight? he has done F:censored:K all in this league this season, just like he did whith Sheff weds and huddersfield

I think Oatway has played better this season than ever before and is worth a lot to Albion in terms of leadership and spirit.

Cullip is class.

Knight is a great player underperforming but is worth a good contract.

Carpenter is championship material.

Roberts should go, particularly with the wages he is on and his injury situation.

Gary Hart I still think is a great player.

Nathan Jones, not too sure.

Guy Butters. Think this should be his last season, he won't hack another year but has been a good servant this season.

IS Leon as good as some people say, should we sell him and get someone weho is going to get goals.

i cannot get to Withdean a lot but he has hardly set the league alight this year?

*await to be shot down in flames now*

I think McGhee wants to play Knight as a wide midfielder. Knights workrate has improved a lot this season but it's been at a cost to his scoring ratio. If McGhee can get another forward in then I don't think we'll see Leon up front again.

Thing is, Both Ian Holloway and Chris Turner tried playing Knight as a winger during his time at QPR and Sheffield Wednesday, and Knight didn't like it at all. In fact he's said in quite a view interviews that he likes playing up front and see's himself as a striker, not a midfielder. Being played out of position (as he sees it) was one of the main reasons he fell out so badly with Chris Turner and his subsequent disciplinary problems at Wednesday.

The big issue for me is what will happen when the Club tells certain players that they will be leaving at the end of the season.

Will they continue to be motivated, because they are in the shop window?

Or will they give up trying, because they Club has no faith in them?

The answer to this puzzle will determine what division we play in next season.

I just keep hearing the same thing from huddersfield fans, Sheff Weds fans and now a few Brighton fans about his attitude.

I'll be suprised if any current first teamers aren't offered a deal, so I hope we never find out.

I wouldn't be so surprised - there are other factors to consider, mainly age and whether they are currently on the top salaries of the club. We may see some stalwarts unexpectedly leaving, that wouldn't shock me at all and may arguably be healthy.

Whatever happens, we all know it's time to draw a line under the Mickey Adams era and McGhee has to put his own footprint on the squad - exciting, newsworthy times ahead on squad comings and goings I feel.

The key thing is that if we get McGhee to sign, he will take care of business - he's the one big name we have to get.

I actually agree with something written by LI.

Out of contract at end of season are:

Kuipers
Roberts
Watson
Cullip
Butters
Mayo
Harding
Hart
Oatway
Carpenter
Jones
Knight
Currie
Reid

I would guess those leaving on free transfers are likely to be Watson, Hart and Jones as are now bit part squad players only

One of Roberts or Kuipers could also leave on grounds of cost

Butters likely to retire

Harding likely to be sold in January as will not sign extension

I would guess contract offers along the lines of:

Kuipers or Roberts - 2 years
Cullip - 2 years
Mayo - 1 year
Oatway - 1 year
Carpenter - 2 years
Knight - 2 years
Currie - 1 year
Reid - 1 year

McGhee - 2 years

How many then accept is anyones guess!!!

Why? What's happening between now and January?

Is our whole future dependent on a bumper Christmas at the club shop? Or sales of the nudie Christmas cards?
