Playing The Great Escape this year. Nice :guitar:

I have no idea why I have started a thread on this other than I am excited by this news!

Brilliant. Dome is perfect for them. Only £12.50 as well. Great Escape's not worth the price (although they have just announced 100 new acts for this year) but just bought a load of Park tickets. Going to see them at Evolution in Newcastle in June as well :)

Always enjoy the Great Escape - cracking weekend. And you always discover some new stuff you'd never have heard otherwise. Main criticism - too many clashes, and not enough late-night gigs. Also difficult to get in to some of the bigger gigs unless you buy a 'delegates' pass.

Yeah, I totally admire the ethos of it. There are plenty of bands I wouldn't mind seeing on the line-up this year, but not enough to spend £50 on it.

Love the first album, one of those albums where every track is amazing. And Paul Smith (lead singer) is a top bloke :)
Well up for this gig!

Is it really that expensive tho - you could easily spend that on two gig tickets.

Considering they got Sufjan Stevens to do a show at the Dome for this last year it's a bit embarrassing that they've settled for Maximo Park this year is it not?

not really , looks this year they're doing three (although only two announced) Maximo Park are the first night.

They had three last year - Sufjan. DJ Shadow and Friendly Fires I believe. Don't worry, I'm not really trying to have a go, I just find the idea of Maximo Park playing the Dome a bit ridiculous.

I totally agree. The Great Escape is a vechicle for relatively unknown smaller bands to play. Maximo Park do not fit in as far as I can see and I will not be topping up my ticket for this one! The fact its only £12.50 reflects their potential pulling power which I guess will be pretty low.
