Ahh, the war has been raging nearly a year and they did just receive ..... well .... megabucks.

Fair that Shakhtar are completely deserving of our sympathy and I would hate that anyone thinks we are trying to take advantage. But considering they have just had quite a cash injection, they are in strong a position to dictate terms
Mudryk is the last big star player they'll sell for a while. Immediately before the war they had a squad with 12 Brazilians, now the vast majority have either left or are out on loan. They presently have one Brazilian, and he is in on loan from PAOK.

This was their business model. Recruit from Brazil, sell big: Fred, Alex Teixeira, Fernandinho, Willian, Douglas Costa, David Neres and many others. 300mill+ in transfer fees in, just from the Brazilian production line.

Now Mudryk has gone they've lost their X Factor. They are no longer a serious player at the top end of European competition, thanks to the war.

Doubtful Shakhtar will budge too much. They don’t need to sell and they know they won’t have any players of any value for a long time now.

Won’t believe any ‘amounts’ and the majority of rumours posted by these ‘journos’. Often guess work or a hidden agent agenda - especially that Romano bellend.

We are going to look pretty foolish if in two seasons time we have an the likes of Dunk, March, Veltman and Gross well into the Twilight of their careers, AL retired, Welbeck possibly too, loads of kids and loads of money but not much else. And we ain't run by fools. So players between 24-28 will almost certainly be bought over the next few windows.
I dunno if it’s just me but seeing players who are currently in the peak of their form being referred to as in the ‘twilight’ of their career is really quite bizarre.

Every player will have a value established by Tony Bloom's data. Just because TB can afford to pay more doesn't mean he will do so. If someone else wants to pay 50% more, they will get the player.
That's why TB is so successful. He understands property values, whether that is a player, a football club or a housing development.

If I wanted to buy a property that is valued locally at £200,000, I wouldn't pay £300,000 even if I could afford it.

Property isn’t a good analogy for football. Signing this player could be the difference between finishing 9th or 7th and having a European run. Say we ‘overpay’ by 4m and that did happen we would recoup it several times over.

Those scenarios would be part of TB's analysis. That's why he's a billionaire and we're poking around on NSC.

I think that they are after another donation to the Ukrainian war effort. Easy enough to dupe the Todd but TB won’t pay over the odds. I’d be surprised if we go back with much more. There is now way we’re paying anywhere near €30m for a player, especially a defender.

Back to the lad at Florence.

DId anyone else spot this dogturd of lazy journalism?:

Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards believes Brighton could sell Moises Ciacedo to fund a move for Mykola Matviyenko.

The Seagulls are reportedly stepping up their interest in the £20m-rated Shakhtar Donetsk and Ukraine centre-back.

Edwards told the Transfer Gossip Daily podcast: "Matviyenko played for De Zerbi at Shakhtar so he knows him well.

"Shakhtar have proven with Mudryk going to Chelsea that they are very tough negotiators in sticking to their asking price. I think Brighton have offered £20m and they are holding out for a little bit more.

"That link between De Zerbi and the player probably helps Brighton in trying to get him. We had been led to believe that Moises Caicedo was up for sale this month, so it makes you wonder if Brighton are going to sell him to fund these sorts of deals.

"If De Zerbi wants Matviyenko and they have that money to go and spend, then why not?"

I guess the £150 million+ we've already trousered in selling players recently has passed lazy Luke by?
