[Politics] Matt Hancock is a hands-on kind of man.

There's no way Hancock will survive this. If the photos are genuine (i.e. including the apparent date), the breaching of covid rules will do for him. His views on Prof Neil Ferguson last year only add to the ammunition.

He won't have support from Johnson, so he's toast. (though there will be no comment on the moral aspect of the affair of course - he'll get a private pat on the back for that)

Standby to see as many as possible of the government's covid response mistakes dumped into Hancock's lap.

I wonder how much BJ new about the "affair"? First Boris fails to sack Cummings for breach of covid rules now a politician has been accused of breaking them. Its yet to be proved and is very circumstantial but if Boris knew of the affair then surely he is breaking compliance to the rules as well. They will wriggle and lie their way out of it.....well our master of deceit Prime Minister will.

A security camera picture in a government building of someone who's been a dead man walking since Cummings revelations and would have a lot of awkward questions had he stayed in office.

I wonder who could have leaked it ???

Exactly! It's called being thrown under the bus! Or maybe taking one for the team!

I think this one is going to be pretty straight forward... Hancock has admitted the breach of the rules (Cummings didn't, even though it was clear he did), so there's no way to wheedle out on a technicality.

Unless Hancock has got some explosive dirt on Johnson, he will be fired - there's too much of a stink around him to keep him on - aside from the covid rule breach, there are further claims he has broken the ministerial code giving her the job and the Cummings mudslinging before anyone even looks at the moral issue with the extra-marital affair (which is pretty immaterial for the question of whether or not he keeps his job).

It also begs the question of whether or not his fancy-woman reported to him or not. It's a pretty standard employment policy not to allow relationships between senior staff & subordinates - because of either real or perceived favouritism and/or the potential for coercion because of the power dynamic. Whether or not her role constitutes 'employment' in the full sense, it's still not a good look.

He's got some brass neck if he tries to brazen this out after what he said about Neil Ferguson (though nothing would surprise me given the characters currently in government)

Just been backed by the Prime minister, how will this pan out? Will they just carry on as if nothing happened. What sad times we live in when the politicians who run the country are above the law and an apology is deemed enough ' punishment '. This government is wrotten to the core.

probably done deliberately to demonstrate how powerful this government is and they can do what they want with impunity.

Just seen that too.

So, what dirt does Hancock have on Boris?!

I look forward to Hancock trying to explain the difference between what Ferguson did and what he has done...

Serial adulterer who broke the ministerial code, doesn’t sack a serial adulterer who broke the ministerial code.

Murdoch clearly has it out for Hancock and is very undecided on Johnson. Murdoch favourite Gove is waiting in the wings.

The Sun wouldn't drop that story without another agenda playing out.

Johnson has probably calculated that sacking Hancock smacks of hypocrisy and on balance weakens him, but this is not playing out well with the members.

Remember how he said to the select committee that " From the moment I wake up til the moment I go to sleep I am focusing entirely on what I can do to save the lives of the public "... Methinks that he had other things on his mind as well so that's yet another porky!

Boris can't afford to sack him - he'll be another with a ton of dirt on Boris that might go public if he gets fired.

Liz Truss - "It's a personal matter"

Er - no it isn't when you're telling the country to do one thing and you are flagrantly abusing it.

Does this mean if we don't follow lockdown rules that its a "personal matter"??

When Gove was found guilty if breaking the Ministerial Code by awarding a contract unfairly to a pal of Cummings, the Telegraph managed to write the entire story without mentioning Gove's name once!
