Great news, definitely need more depth for that left hand side. Any evidence of this, can't see this anywhere.

Source within the club, all I know is the club are concerned about Derby financial position, possibly they have missed a payment and their commitment to Clarkes wages moving forwards so they are considering a recall. Whether that is because he is going to be part of our First Team, or we find him another loan I do not know that much.

Thanks, personally definitely see him as the better balance for Webster on the left side than Burn, easily their best player this season on whoscored.com (not sure quite how telling this is mind). Maybe Haydon Roberts could upgrade on Rochdale and replace Clarke at Derby as a cheaper option for them. Would be a great experience for him under Rooney and Rosenior, they perhaps would be looking for more experience options though given their perilous position.

Derby borrowed £80m to buy the ground from themselves to cover FFP losses and also I think another £30m for working capital sometime last year

Some of us considerably older haven't got a clue about it either!

It referred to a chap called Joey Deacon, who was born with cerebral palsy and appeared on Blue Peter in the early eighties. With it being slightly less enlightened times, following his appearance many kids seized on this - playgrounds were full of kids mimicking his face and mannerisms and calling other kids a "Joey" as an insult.

Kids eh.

That would explain why many older people don't know it - they weren't watching Blue Peter in the early eighties, probably still at work or on the way home.

Probably, although he was quite widely known I think, he was featured on a Horizon programme.

I remember the pisstaking in our playground involved pushing your tongue into your bottom lip and slapping the back of your hand going "uuuuh Joey, Joey" at someone. That is when we weren't calling each other "Benny's" (from Crossroads).

"Are you a Benny tied to a tree ?"
"No"
"BENNY ON THE LOOSE ! BENNY ON THE LOOSE !"

There's probably a thread in this.

Not to mention sticking your hand up the arms of your jumper 'til only the tips of your elbows poked out then doing your 'Flid' impression. Thing is, I don't remember the girls doing this stuff, it was just the boys - what a bunch of idiots we were.

Basically, kids are wankers. We all were until we developed a sense of empathy somewhere in our teenage years. The whole Joey hand slapping thing still makes me smile for the memories of innocent worry-free infant school days if nothing else.

Handy option for us to call on next season if we lose a centre back. Along with Ostigard and Van Heck.

I have been known to use the phrase "You Joey!" even to this day.

Fortunately anyone under the age of 45 has no idea where it comes from.

'Joey' and 'Flid' were the two names of choice in my playground days..................I won't even go into what we called the one black lad at our school. Quite shameful looking back on it to be honest.

Yes, servicemen are terrible with their kid humour, but they're always the first there if the butt of their jokes get into difficulties.
Empathy from are soles
