Carlos has given away 9 assists to the opposition and now he looks like he’s played in the PL all his career, give the guy a bit of time to adjust.
Nice to see you’ve changed as I remember you laying into Baleba loads last season

No he shouldn’t. There was still opportunity commit the Wolves player then pass.

But if he felt ‘he had to’, chip it, I’d rather be moaning about something that was overhit, than something that was just presented on a plate…..
Think you may misread what I meant or it was badly worded by me. I meant it’s a pass a professional footballer should complete. He didn’t have to make it and if play was paused and he looked at where he was how far out of position our players would be if the pass wasn’t completed he would have made a different choice. I’d rather he was safe with the ball in the 93rd minute when we have a slender lead. That’s just me others will think differently. But if he had kept the ball won a throw or a corner or committed Doyle by driving towards goal and then playing it square we would have got 3 points.
Just want to say, I’m 27 now and played semi professionally in Holland since I came here. I moved here when I was 18, and if I played a pass like that I wouldn’t be welcome back in the changing room. Honestly, I wouldn’t even show my face.

It’s absolutely unacceptable in Sunday league level, never mind the top level of English football. Anyone who has played football, if your teammates did this in the last minute, how would you actually react? Fuming, is the answer. I’m sure we won’t see any behind the scenes for that game.

I, and I’m sure the same as many others, would have maybe accepted from a player who was tired and misplaced a pass who’d been running up and down the whole game, not from a lad who came on for 8 minutes. Pathetic. You can tell me we shouldn’t have committed so many bodies forward, I’d say we pressed it as was the game plan, hence why we only had 5 in defence against, by the way, bottom of the league. Anyone who blames the defence for not closing them down didn’t see the whole pitch.

I really hope for his sake he offers a public apology and shows what he really can because I and many others can really see what he has to offer. See; NL against Germany last week.

My two memories of him right now as a Brighton supporter is almost giving a goal away against Everton and the pass tonight.

This is coming from someone who has always backed the Dutch players to a tee, but it’s simply not good enough.
Well luckily for Matt he has professionals around him. Players like Welbeck who have played the game at the top level will pop arm around him and try lift his spirits. You think he will be changing in the corridor because he misplaced a pass because that’s what you did in semi professional Holland then your wrong.
As for a public apology that may be the stupidest comment I’ve read, and you come across a self important prick.

You were doing so well up this point. A far greater crime than your abusive last sentence.

Agree.

@Flounce will tell you, I’m happy with a 1-0 as much as a 3-1….

If the other team has ‘0’ you have a point…..
I’m in the win at all costs camp, and if it means going to the corner that’s fine.

Certainly anybody who saw it will never forget it. An iconic moment - for all the wrong reasons
It is certainly one of those moments that will be scarred onto most of our brains until the end of time - I still can't quite believe it happened but after a few minutes of anger at him at the game my instinct is to then defend him from the keyboard vitriol that inevitably comes and does no one any favours (and often like with the Steele abuse comes dangerously close to bullying). No one will be feeling worse than him this morning and if we were any kind of supporters we'd be giving it everything to restore his confidence and let him know we are behind him - you can be damn sure that's what FH and his teammates will be doing.

Start him on Wednesday and give him an opportunity to make amends I say.
I agree. Hurzeler summed it up well when he alluded to Wieffer having to accept responsibility but that in doing so will make him improve as a player - I hope that is the case. For me, I’m still fuming. We had three points in the bag and threw the game away in the most idiotic fashion. A 2-2 draw that made it feel the worst defeat in years. Still, it’s and done and dusted and we move on. We have three incredibly tough games in the next couple of weeks in which I hope Mats will redeem himself and show his true potential.

Agree to a point, but this is a discussion forum, I doubt (hope) Wieffer will come on.

But I thought what was particularly impressive, was our supporters applauding him and the rest off the pitch, so in the main that started immediately.

I’m in the 3-1 camp; I watch football to be entertained. I don’t mind going to the corner but I’d rather players try something.

That’s fair enough…… I just want to win, that’s why I had no problem with Hughton keeping us up, with the inferior squad we had then.

One moment of madness and the poor lad is responsible for 2 points slipping from our grasp. He was devastated. Shit happens. We move on.

Ffs he made a bad pass in a good position. People are going in way to hard on him IMO. Yes it was bad but after we got the second, the whole team lost their heads. Players make individual mistakes all game, some lead to goals and some don't. Hanging one player out to dry because of a shambolic 10 mins from the whole team is OTT.

With a 4 v 1 we absolutely should go ahead and make it 3-1, not take it into the corner. The mess-up by Weiffer was just awful.
I've slept on it to calm down a little and all I can say now is:-
Has he been fired yet?😳

I get it I screamed at him to make the pass. 7 seconds later I’m thinking WTF. In the cold light of day I’d rather the 3 points and a 2-1 win with us sitting 3rd this morning over the 2-2. Still think there are so many mistakes in that 10 seconds but it’s life. Not everything always goes smoothly.

It was the correct decision to play the pass to set up an easy goal scoring chance whatever your camp.

If he takes it to the corner he can probably kill 30-40s of time. If he plays Fergie or Enciso in 1-on-1 with the keeper, it’s probably a goal, possibly a corner, worst case a GK, all of which would kill time.

I can’t say I’d want any more of Hughton’s last season. That was depressing stuff. Thankfully Tony felt the same. But each to their own.

Sure, happier with how we’re playing, but without Hughton keeping us in the division we would not be here….. and the means justified the end for me

I still want to win and agree with @nwgull and your point around trying something, I’m just saying, I wouldn’t have had a problem either if he’d gone towards the corner flag…..

Imagine if Weiffer takes the ball to the corner, wastes 30 seconds and they equalise from their next piece of possession. Would have got absolute pelters. Had to try the pass.

I think he had so many options he didn’t know which one to take… a bit like when a player has a cross/ shot which ends up as neither
Imagine if they don’t…..
We’d still be moaning, and you and I would present a reverse argument…. 😂😂
