Question: Which is currently the best selling football magazine?

Answer: False. Which is a consumer magazine that compares the value of different products and services.

I think the answer to original question is 37.5%

Assume equal chance (1/4) of picking each answer
Assume equal chance each answer being correct, therefore odds of each answer being correct are 50% for 25% (a,d) and 25% for the other two.

So 1/4*50% + 1/4*25% + 1/4*25% + 1/4*50% = 37.5%

Vicente whispered this into my ear.

Or more likely 33.33% if equal chance of answer being 25%, 50% or 60%.

Or more likely 33.33% if equal chance of answer being 25%, 50% or 60%.

But that isn't an option so can't be right.

None of the answers are correct. 25% can't be the right answer, since there's a 50% chance of picking it. 50% can't be the right answer, since there's a 25% chance of picking it. And 60% isn't even plausible.

Therefore, the chance that you'll be correct is 0%. Since this isn't one of the answers listed, it's a trick question

How about this one?

Me and my two flat mates were after a decent big new telly for the flat, and a mate of ours said he had seen a peach of an LED full HD 32 inch for exactly £300, and he could pick it up for us on his way home from work next day.

So in the pub that night we each gave him £100, so he could go out and buy the £300 TV.

He went to the shop, and to his delight the price had been reduced even further, to just £250. He obviously thought he would keep quiet about this further discount and pocket the £50 himself.

But his conscience got the better of him, so when he delivered the telly to us he said he got it for £250. And as £50wasn't easily divisible by 3 he said "how about I give you £10 back each, and I keep the other £20 for my trouble, time and petrol money?". And we all thought 'fair enough, he's done us a proper good turn here'.

So at the end of the day, we had each given him £100, but he had given each of us a tenner back. So each of us had parted with £90. Three times £90 is £270, add on the £20 he kept for himself, makes £290.

Hang on a minute, so where's the other tenner gone?

you each gave him £100 - £10 given back = £90 x 3 = £270 - £250 (telly) = £20 for him

there our five mistaks in this sentance.

True of False?

True:

- The sentence should begin with a capital letter.
- The second word should be 'are' not 'our'.
- The word 'mistaks' is mis-spelt (should be 'mistakes').
- The word 'sentance' is mis-spelt (should be 'sentence').
- The word 'five' is incorrect and should read 'four'.

Also, is there a bonus point for pointing out that it should say "True or False" not "True of False"? I didn't count it as one of the mistakes as it isn't part of the sentence in question.

Jnr. Skipper who is a mathematical prodigy tells me the question has no answer, or 0% which is not an option. All to do with there being two 25% possibles.

You have pointed out 5 mistakes, but that means 'five' is not a mistake...... [twist brain here]

I've come back home.
This is an old one....

You're on a game show and the host shows you three doors (A,B and C), behind two of the doors is a goat, behind the third is a car. He asks you to choose a door and you choose (for example) door A.

The host opens door B and shows you a goat (he will always show you a goat behind one of the other doors).

He give's you the option of sticking with Door A or changing to Door C.

Do you stick or change and what are the probabilities that your dealing with?

Ah, good point. :(

In that case I'm counting the true or false bit as one of the five, which means there are five mistakes excluding the five/four thing.

that was a different sentence. also I just cheated and corrected that part using edit, but I'm being upfront about it so anyone else bothering to read this will not think less of you.
