I enjoy a spot of fishing - but by match fishing do you mean coarse?

I got seriously into carp fishing for about 10 years but found myself spending more and more time using my float rod whilst waiting for my delkims to go off.

So i sold all my carp stuff and now enjoy catching stuff that carp anglers turn their noses up at...Bream, tench, Perch, Rudd, Roach and even Eels !!!...all on the feeder or float rod and if i do fish for carp, i'll stalk them off the top.

I'm going to join Hassocks and district AC this year too as they've got some nice waters.

Love to fish, take a small travel pack with me whenever I go abroad including an 8 foot rod with a reversable butt (OK, bring it on) so that I can use it either as a fly rod or a spinning/bait/float rod. In Sussex I like to fish Borde Hill for coarse, the Ouse for trout and Worthing for the bass when they are about.

I tend to mainly sea fishing nowadays, although when I get out to Ireland I can't resist a session or 2 going for wild brown trout, sea trout and the odd Salmon.

borde hill gardens.... i was there in november of last year, and there were a couple of guys down from croydon ? one of them was bagging big time on paste over pellet which i thought was a bit late in the year to be catching on??? only the 2nd time ive fished it but i found a few carp close in the margins on the pole after spending too much time fishing the method

Loads of coarse fishing when I was a kid and got back into sea fishing last year, though only from the marina arm. Don't suppose anyone knows if it will be open this summer?

Have just signed up for a fly fishing "beginners' day" at Arlington Reservoir too, which is something I've always rather fancied.

I have often thought about taking up river or lake fishing. i love peaceful countryside. But just don't have a clue as to where to start, what kit I would need and what type of fishing would suit me best. Any tips / help?

I was a member of Seaford a few years ago...fished the old river and michlem priory a lot

Something i've always wanted to do too. I used to tie thousands of flies for people but never used them myself. The thought of standing round a huge resevoir like you're mackerel fishing off the marina fills me with dread though to be honest.

Fly fishing should be done on a lovely chalk stream in somewhere like Hampshire in may or june....spot a fish rise and cast to it....man against nature.

To tell you the truth mate, i find the "kits" to be ideal for beginners. They're good enough to get people started....although they'll want to upgrade later most probably. I gave up fishing for about 10 years when married to the first slag but started again and bought a float rod kit from Bennetts of Sheffield. Still got it 15 years later.

This is one of the best all-round starters packs http://www.bosfish.co.uk/PRODUCTS/outfits/be059coarse.htm

Oh...and keep away from Percy's if its advice you're after....they're more interested in sitting in the shop all day yapping to their clickey mates about the one that got away.....probably the most unhelpful tackle shop i've ever been to. Now Burgess Hill angling shop is a million times better as is the Lagoon.

bennetts are good you can spread your payments with them, and i have to agree with percys best not go there at the weekend, too many people drinking tea and in the way
