Nothing to do with the scores except my example was if every ball was potted individually and legally to bring the frame to a conclusion (not including the final black which isn't mandatory and depends on the scores).

By this point, I think it's more on you for not phrasing the question tightly enough, than everybody else not getting the correct answer.

What is the minimum number of balls you need to pot to win a snooker frame.

So ignoring the rules of the game, and the possible answers we can give that are factually correct and give a different answer to what you are after, i'll go for it being 6 balls

The official rules, section 3, part 14 regarding the awarding of a frame when someone fails to hit a ball 'on' on their 3rd attempt and after being warned by the ref after their second can apply, and mean that a frame can be won by someone who hasn't potted a ball and so it would have been interesting to see what they would do if that question was used in Mastermind and the answer the contestant gave was none

Not knowing that much about darts, I’ll nevertheless plump for 23.

I was. But it was very embarrassing. I completely froze on my specialist subject. I chose something really stupid (the complete works of Shakespeare, which is such a vast field) but my first three choices were all rejected because they'd been done before or because they were related to my job and I chose wildly. TBF to Mastermind, they did ring me and ask me if I wanted to change my mind as it was such a big topic but I'd already spent a couple of weeks reading and re-reading every play, so I said no.

But once I was in the black chair my mind went blank and questions I could have answered at home were mysteries to me. I scored a pitiful 6 on that road. For the general knowledge, I went into the zone and scored a respectable total of 22 at the end, only four behind the winner. So, it was a respectable showing in the end.

El Presidente was in the audience, witnessing my humiliation, fortunately not too many people seem to have seen it

I had pretty much the same experience when I was on, but chose Ian Rankins Inspector Rebus books, scored 5 and then finished on 21 points (1 away from winning). Lesson learned, don’t choose a series of books as your specialist subject.
